I have used Daleks, which sorta fit in this category ... They're a hoot! They wander into ongoing combats and begin EXTERMINATING everyone.
i have also used Mi-Go Brain Cylinder Tripods that house the brains of Magic-Users and can still function as such in a slavish manner to their Fungal Overlords. Their spell repertoires are more mentally related and support spells rather than powerful offensive spells.
I am also working on a clockwork race of mechanical men that may or may not be from the The Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus. Whether they are friends or foes, I haven't quite worked out yet, but it's on the drawing board.

Has anyone used these? I have not and was curious how you have used them. No, I haven't used them so far. Back in the day, I always tried to keep fantasy and science fiction apart from each other, so they never really fit in into the settings I created. Nowadays I kinda like the idea of incorporating sf-elements in fantasy (at least in some settings) so I wouldn't mind trying it out.

I have used them a little at different times. Just like throwing in a vine-covered spaceship.

If you do give it a try then please let us know about it, I would love to hear how you handled it and how the players reacted.
