Ps.
Note that there are 5 races in Mythus:
Black / White / Red / Yellow / Brown
Compare to the Medicine Wheel, which doesn't have the Brown race.
They are labelled races, though they would be sub-races in (A)D&D.
There are even sub-sub-races (see the entry for Annam for a good example), which are referred to as races.
Myself, i've never been too fond of the words "race" and "class": as in "race war", "class war" etc. etc.
I vastly prefer the words "species" and "vocation".
Then again, "race" and "class" have only one syllable, so I lose out
Anyway, there are sub-racial differences, in the human race, if one wants to use them in their game.
It might not be politically correct, but, that's OK with me.
Ps2.
Yes, i would almost enforce female STR limits, too (sexual dimorphism is a fact, and the limits in no way complicate the game to any significant extent), but...
I am working on an alternate configuration of 1e for Aerth, which includes the an alternate character generation system with race/class restrictions lifted.
This is all theory for now, but another aspect of the character generation system is an alternate method for generating ability scores:
* roll 3d6 in order
* raise to race/class minimums
* apply modifiers (PH race, DMG race/class, age)
However, this is predicated on random generation of race/class, which some people might not be happy with. (With regards to that, I am thinking of removing the human-only restriction on dual-classing, and, consolidating multi-class combinations into single classes).
And... to finally get to the point: in the context of that method of ability score generation, I am considering removing all limits to ability scores. Scores of 19 or other might indicate divine blood. I've got nothing against a 1st (or 0) level character, with a 19, 20, or 21 strength, something that is entirely possible, albeit quite unlikely.
Ps3.
Getting back to races, I will add to this list, as time goes on. There are some interesting ones, such as:
* Norse trolls
* gnolls (Aegyptian pantheon states: following Hamunaptra, and, the 'new races' option of core 2e)
