On Aerth, there is an underlying "monoculture" that is represented by the first 7 AD&D 1st Ed. Books. Local culture will dominate, but the monoculture prevails. For example, a lot of folk didn't like OA. I understand: it just wasn't AD&D, in a way. That said, on Aerth, Yes, there are dungeons, and, if you're in, say, Nippon, you can play a Nipponese bard, or, a Nipponese paladin. The only limitations on the monsters are those prescribed in the MM2: all of this data is documented on the 1eo site, for wilderness encounters. Sure, extend the list given on page 115 of OA: if you want a beholder or mind flayer above or under Nippon, go for it! The only exception to the 'monoculture' 'rule' is when something is specifically prohibited. A possible example of this is certain magic items in the Treasure and Magical Items chapter of OA. Another example would be in Charlemagne's paladins: there are no PC magic-users. A third, and, poignant, example, can be found on page 35 of the original printing of the 2e DMG, where we find Equipment Lists by Time Period. Other than that, anything goes. Dungeons, Prespos
