30 Dimensional Fatigue Events Our premise is that the following disaster happened and what kind of world or worlds could have or did result from this disaster. If there are (will be) multiple ideas, then additional threads World Ib, World Ic, etc can be created.

There is an example scenario, but don't let that limit your ideas, write your own scenario and rift off of that. This is a group brainstorming exercise so go for it.

This is the basic premise of the Doom franchise, and the movie Event Horizon.
Contingency One - The Gates of Hell Open
A standard apocalypse, the legions of Hell march out across the Earth, spewing forth from dimensional gates. They open more, allowing more and more come through. Humanity fights back, this is no comic book guns don't work nonsense. The legions are ready for a quick and glorious war, but a short one, but are shocked by the resistance they encounter. The last time Hell got a decent look at Earth, there were castles, swords, and mystics claiming to be magi. Now, the demon lords of Hell cock their heads to the side as an Apache gunship swoops done and dumps a load of 20mm chaingun rounds and a storm of Hellfire missiles into their faces, and then their heads explode from the armor piercing warheads. Humanity and Hell vie with each other, the hosts of Hell versus the armies of man.
Contingency 1.5 - Ghosts of the Past
As per above, but humanity has figured out how to channel the shades of the past, allowing the living to call upon the ghosts of dead soldiers and generals to help in the War with Hell.
Contingency 2 - The Damned
Similar to 1.5, but Hell is full of Generals, and now humanity isn't facing the classic pitchfork slinging demon with a bifurcated tail. The ghosts of the past return, and it is composed of the armies of the vanquished, the defeated, the losers, and the villains. The Wehrmacht panzer divisions return, the marching hosts of the Confederacy, the armies of Xerxes, the grand armadas of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and more. Humanity fights back, but they face a rogue's gallery of the greatest warriors of all time.
Contingency 3 - Holy War
As per the above, but Hell isn't alone out there. The gates of Hell have opened, but so have the gates of Heaven. In a Dante-esque Aliens Versus Predator, angels and demons wage war across the Earth while humanity tries to survive in between. The angels might be lawful good, but they are as likely to judge and scourge humanity as protect it, and rather than slaughter humans indisciminately, the demon lords are sure to put hosts of slaves to work, or use them as shields in battles. It's a bad beat all around
