I am thinking of doing some de-cluttering of the main page. I am not going to delete things, reorganize. Also if people see threads in General Discussion that deserve a home in a different forum below please link in this thread and tell me where you think it should go.
I am thinking of creating a separate forum for "Classic Traveller and Other Old School SciFi RPGs", and I am thinking for creating a separate forum for "Classic Arduin, Tunnels & Trolls and other Old School RPGs", and I am thinking of creating a separate forum for "Classic Apocalyptic RPGS, Gamma World, Metamorphosis Alpha and others".
Comments and thoughts would be appreciated.

I like that idea as things are getting a bit cluttered in here.

You already have these folders, don't you?

I would vote for "de-cluttering" the main page and combining all those threads in one area and then transferring the info to new forums with a tighter focus. Arduin doesn't really have a forum anymore just the google+ group and that is about it. I don't see a problem with combining Arduin and TnT in one dedicated forum.

I personally dig how this one forum scratches so many RPG itches. But if Ruins of Murkhill does spawn new forums:
Traveller and Other Old-School Sci-Fi should include Space Probe!
Classic Apocalyptic RPGs should have a subforum/category for Aftermath!

I think they are all good ideas. Anything that might attract more peeps is to be desired. in fact PD you should embrace as much as you could want being careful w/ your mission of providing a good home for OD&D.

Do we want to include 5TH? I dont care for it, but a lot of old schoolers have embraced it. It prob would bring more peeps in. this is the kind of decision that defines us, do we want to be niche or mainstream?

I voted for Tunnels & Trolls. I know that it has been discussed here and it doesn't have a folder yet.
Maybe a folder for old 3rd party stuff?

Classic Apocalyptic RPGs should have a subforum/category for Aftermath! I think that Admin Pete needs to clarify what he means. How I read his post is that he wants to declutter the forum (I am not sure if he means just the general forum or the whole Murkhill forum) and create specific forums at Ruins of Murkhill for the above genres. Maybe create a Traveller & Classic Sci-Fi forum with its own general sub-forum have a Gamma world & Classic Post-Apocalyptic forum, with its own general sub-forum & likewise for the others suggested. I think the General Forum should be relegated to general topics not covered by the focused gaming forums, be discussing books, film, history, tv and tie these discussions to how they impact your games. But again I think we need TPD to chime in with a clarification on this. I doubt TPD wants to create a number of new separate forums outside Ruins of Murkhill or that is how I read the post initial as he has enough on his plate as it is.

You already have these folders, don't you? Yes I have folders for some of that here; however, I think some of these would be better served as having there own separate forums. I would put a sticky at the top of all the forums in General Discussion and Announcements with the links to the other forum sites. You could all register with the same logins you use here so you login once and when you click on a link to go to the other forum(s) it will auto log you in. I am concerned about this forum getting cluttered and for these other games not getting the love they deserve. Also none of them have an old school forum that I would have access to unless I build it myself.

People can talk about how they use ideas from anywhere to play old school, just start a thread. No edition wars here, just a focus on old school, which primarily means OD&D and its imitations, but I have never limited it to that. I am fine with being niche. I do not have the time or energy to be mainstream nor does it interest me.

I would like to have the whole forum better organized so it is not so overwhelming to find things. General Discussion has many threads that probably should be moved to other forums below where there are the same topic focus, I just have not had time to keep up with that or do it without help. As far as the three listed things in the poll I am talking about creating three standalone affiliate forums to stand along side but as separate entities from this one. Creating these additional forums is very little work itself. An hour or so could have one up and running. Moderating it would take time. But I am expecting them to have low traffic and as long as I can check in on each every couple of days and scans the recent posts it should not take too long, this forum would still be my main focus. I am thinking of creating them and seeing what happens. I went ahead and created each of them. But they have zero content at this point. I can open them up after adding a few sections or I can let them set there forever untouched and invisible.

I am iffy this but having a general D&D forum that covers non-OD&D games like 1e AD&D, 2e AD&D, 3.5 D&D ect and maybe Pathfinder could appeal to the younger & older crowd who likes different flavors of D&D other than just OD&D and thus bring new blood in here. But personally I wouldn't mind just having a separate section on the Ruins of Murkhill forum that catered to Holmes Basic & the Moldvay and Cook B/X D&D, maybe even a BECMI forum, as these would likely be the only non-OD&D "D&D" sub-forums I'd post in. Maybe add a sub-forum for TSR published settings up to 2e; as I love 1e Forgotten Realms (at least the Gray Box FR CS), Greyhawk & Mystara.

If we are doing separate Old School Forums set around (Arduin and Tunnels & Trolls, Classic Traveller & the like), will these forums have sub-forums for OSR (OD&D or B/X D&D based clones)RPGs that emulate their genre or will Ruins of Murkhill still contain OD&D and clones that emulate Sci-Fi, Post-Apocalyptic or even Sci-Fantasy/Sword & Planet campaigns?

As long as you are using the same email and the same password to register at a proboards forum it now automatically ties them together unless you delink on purpose and use different passwords. So it you register at a new proboards forum and use the same email and password you should be golden.

The former on a case by case basis as you guys bring things to my attention. Some things should go one place and some another. Those are things to discuss. I want it to be user friendly and logical/reasonable. The main thing being, if you make one forum too big and the main page too long, too much will get lost in the sauce. I invite everyone of you to look at every section of this forum and give me feedback. I welcome your input.

Are they popular enough to warrant a forum for each of them? I think that Arduin, Tunnels & Trolls and possibly 1/2e Runequest/Glorantha forum could create a niche forum for all three.
