Do you use titans in your campaign? (see Titans) Do you use D&D Titans and if so which edition do you prefer? Or do you use Titans of Mythology? Or do you use some house-ruled version of your own.

Yes, the are the primal deities in my world - they represent both Nature and primal concepts such as life, death & chaos. As such I do not have D&D Titans in my settings.

I tweak the D&D Titans and run them as the masters of the giants.

I haven't used Titans at or if it was it was a long time ago. I need to dust them off update and make my own version and put them on deck.

I treat titans similarly to how trolls are treated in Runequest. In effect, Titans are immortal giants that were cursed millennia ago. Now only 10 remain (as per Greyhawk). The nature of the curse left them unchanged but gradually turned most of their offspring into brutish monsters.
What I've done in-game is to treat all the giant humanoid monsters as one large race of creatures. Trolls, ogres, hill giants, cyclops, ettins, etc are all descendants of these original titans cursed with bestial intelligence and "chaotic features". Some giants, such as frost giants and fire giants, retain their human intelligence and keep neutral alignment (i.e. aligned as humans). These I refer to as "true giants".
Sometimes a daughter of a true giant will only grow to normal human size (this is to match the mythic "frost giant's daughter"). These women will often form mercenary bands, the so-called Amazons*, to wage war and try to find a worthy hero to wed. Depending on the status of the hero and, more importantly, the purity of their love, it's possible for these amazons to give birth to a new Titan. Thus saving the race of Titans from extinction.
So, though rarely seen, Titans are one of the four most important monsters IMC (the others being dragons, chimera, and goblins).
*These giantesses have concocted the legend of the far off land of Amazonia to conceal their monstrous origin.

I also like that, hedgehobbit. Cool ideas there. I imagine titans as a race of retired world-shapers, a few of which still interact with mortals for some reason. Many of them cannot even be seen and feel more like landscape features.

I'm going to brainstorm on this a bit, but I dig this thread. Cool subject.

I missed this, that was about the time when I took a break from the forum when my wife was in her last months. This is excellent hedgehobbit and I like it a lot.

To answer the OPs question, yes I do use titans, mostly as per the OD&D supplements but tweaked a bit.
