RPGs are often said to give people a chance to work out real-world interests and issues. On this board alone we've seen a kind of gonzo Christendom (I forget what tetramorph called it) that could tap into history, religion, literacy, magic, substrate cultures...it wouldn't have to. But could. But it's also possible to leave a lot of problems at the door. True, you can find poor behavior anywhere! But in a game, you can work it out in the game. OR if it's player-to-player, you can address it. And if the unpleasant party is really obnoxious, you can not invite that person back or YOU can walk away. It's not a job, it's (often) not family. If you don't like what's in the source materials - LBBs or Appendix A or the succubus in the MM or whatever edition or module or retroclone or diceless system or wherever - you can CHANGE it. In that way, gaming has a leg up on the rest of life...everything can be there, but if something that someone brings in is intolerable, you can walk away.

All of my players have been w/me for 25-35 YEARS, I have no idea what you are talking about

We go to work and get told what to do, then we come home and get told what to do. We all must struggle to be responsible. We all fight against the world yet never gain so much as an inch for our efforts. Table top Role Playing Games allow us to effect a world, and bring change. The worse things are, the more potential that the player has of being a hero.

Which is why i tend to have Grim Dark settings & campaigns, plenty of opportunities for characters to be heroes- though in my last group half the group acted like villains half the time. They did bring change, albeit small change in their adventures in both the Skârn & Greyhawk based campaigns.

Idea for game room, setup for two groups of players, neither of which can hear the other and two refs who can each hear their group of players, but can talk to each other using sign language and let the two opposing groups fight it out.

I made the OP a year and a half before COVID was noted to exist. What a time this has been.

RE the OP, sometimes in the real world you have just cut your losses and walk away. A lot tougher to do, but sometimes the price is worth it.
