Not much is known about the thief-turned-mage, Santiana. Myths and legends are all that can be found in the rarest of tomes located in the most isolated ruins of the realm. One thing that repeatedly appears throughout, is that she may have been a concubine at one time, or harem wife to a great eastern King. The story behind this is lacking detail, as well as how she left (escaped) her situation, or where she went thereafter.
Bits and pieces of her travels surface within the writings, describing the life of an outlaw, a rogue, operating on the fringe of the law and society. There is even a hint of having reached a lucrative state of existence, operating a large network of seedy and questionable businesses; drug dens, bordellos and assassination-for-hire being most commonly rumored. Until, one day, she simply vanished altogether. No hints are to be found as to what caused this, or where she may have gone, or with whom. Some have suggested her disappearance is connected to witchery. But nothing of substance corroborates this. Or, nothing did, until tales of a magic scabbard, somehow associated with her, entered the discussion.
Over time, sightings and contact with such a scabbard fueled the validity of its existence; confirmed to bear the strangely shaped monogram once known to be embraced by Santiana. What powers it may hold no living Sage has been able to divine. Some believe it to be an artifact, simply found and claimed by Santiana; others imply it was of her own making--or the product of someone she associated with. It is the latter thought that has led many to suspect that she made a deal with a demon.
Where the scabbard is, if it exists at all, is for others to determine. I am simply the bearer of this myth, as passed down through time from mentor to pupil. May you be successful in finding it, where I was not.
