Dad left me and my chronically unemployed brother with a nice house that we have to sell. Moving to the heartland of Texas maybe. Did or are you moving to Texas? Were you able to sell the house?

I'm from a town in central Spain, near Madrid, its earliest archeological evidence dating from Celtiberian times (around 500BC), its current plan conceived in the 1500s. I live now in Bonn, Germany, but I'm spending some weeks here in Spain with my family. So may I assume that you speak at least, Spanish, German and English (to use the American names)? And do you speak any languages? How did you come to live in Bonn, Germany if I may ask? I'm fluent in those three and also French. I lived in Paris for two years. Made a masters degree on Ancient History there. In Bonn I did my PhD, which I defended a month ago, on the influence of Roman religion on the Germanic province of the lower Rhine. I also taught languages there. Since it was in the department of Scandinavian studies, I had to learn a good deal of Norwegian and also learnt Old Icelandic (whose grammar is almost identical to modern Icelandic). Latin was also a must. I'm still learning them, since I'm not that fluent, but could have a conversation in Norwegian and I expect to be able to speak it more or less ok (along with Danish and Swedish, which are very similar) by the end of the year. Now I'm taking a time off with my family, because it was a lot of stress (and loneliness) for the better part of five years. I registered as Baldorar about a year ago but didn't post much and, since I decided to change to this nickname for internet usage, well, now I have this one! I don't know what I could ask about you, I've read your blog from beginning you end, with the exception of a handful of articles here and there (there's a lot of content!). It's one of my favourites out there. I'm specially intrigued about your early life growing up, as it seems to be the kind of life I would like my kids would have (when I have them): the telling stories by the fireplace at the end of the day with the family and having a big library are the parts that I find most fascinating. I hope you're doing fine and your health better.

I hope you're doing fine and your health better. Wow, that is a lot of languages to know and I am sure you will continue to learn more throughout your life. Ancient History is your field, now I know who to ask questions of about the Hyborian Age , along with Atlantis, Mu and Lemuria. It is a pity that recorded history does not go back a lot further. I have a friend that knows Latin and he said he can read Italian newspapers (but not speak Italian) because of knowing Latin. I am glad that you enjoy my blog and I hope to be able to write a lot more. Yeah, growing up on a rural farm has a lot of good times. I grew up in the 1960s before all of this technology and IMO it was just a better time to live in a lot of ways. Life was simpler, but it also had a lot more time for family and friends and things were not so rushed. My dad was a storyteller and told stories of things that happened as he grew up, but he also told stories (hundreds of them) that he had heard growing up from older family and neighbors.

Well, languages is one of my main interest and I like spending some of my time with them! I'm pretty sure your friend could also understand written Spanish, it's almost as close to Latin as Italian. The other romance languages come in tow. You can ask things about Ancient History and, to a lesser extent, Mediaeval History and even Prehistory, but I don't promise that I will have all the answers. The more I know, the more I know I don't know Besides, I'm sure there's many people around here, including you, that have a big interest in these matters and have read a big deal. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Despite all what technology has brought to us I'd rather had lived a simpler life, as you put it, with my relatives, friends and neighbours at hand, instead of relying on technology as a means to be entertained, or give you a false sense of closeness that would allow you to wander off. I try to use the internet and my mobile phone as less as possible and most of the time is for reading something specific I want to read.

I am from and currently live in Oklahoma. Specifically, I live in the small town of Oologah. I'm sure you've never heard of it. Basically, about 30 miles NE of Tulsa. Yes, we have running water, electricity, and indoor bathrooms in my neck of the woods. No, we all don't go to rodeos, fish, hunt, and listen to country music.

Arf! Drop by for a game or a Diet caff-free Dew some time! Am even further south than you, here in Rosenberg. Last year, we were Houstonites. So many Texans here, but we're absolutely neighbors! I'm in this tiny sliver of Fort Bend County nestled between Sugar Land, Richmond and Rosenberg right near George Ranch High School.

Currently living in Hamden, CT. Originally from Haarlem in the Netherlands. How long have you been in the USA? I moved here about 5 years ago, before that I lived in Haarlem, Diemen, Amsterdam and Zaandijk, which coincidentally are all places that lie in the area corresponding to Dave Arneson's first Blackmoor campaign ma.

Very well gentle folk, I shall endeavor to do so soon. I'm merely checking in at the moment, and I have no pictures uploaded to this computer. (And I'll need to play with linking an image, Douh!)

I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently sitting in my office watching the harbour come to life. Wow, a view of the harbour! That sounds awesome! It's wonderful. The company I work for is located on the top floor of an office building that has views of most of the city. I came to Halifax from Toronto in '98 on a whim "for a year". I've pretty much been here ever since. I found my city.

LOL...I don't think I updated when I bought my house 2 years ago.
I now live in Claremore, Oklahoma. I have just about everything here but it's not a huge town. Wal-Mart, a used bookstore, a new bookstore, Harbor Freight, Lowe's, and a decent variety of dining establishments. Oh, two video games stores as well.
