I have a question, in the character creation if says attempt rank and if no rank attempt commission etc. How do you attempt rank? I am not finding a table which has rank and non-rank on it?

What they are saying is attempt promotion. When you start in a service, you are unranked (Rank 0). Once you have successfully achieved a commission, you gain Rank 1. Now you are eligible to attempt rank advancement, i.e. promotion Let's say you join the Navy. You are Rank 0, and will remain Rank 0 until you successfully earn a Commission. At that point you achieve Rank 1 Ensign, and are now eligible for promotions each term

OK, I am going to post what I have so far on the first surviving character. The first eight characters that I rolled up died during Chargen and one was a really good one with 4 high numbers and two - 2's which would really have been fun. Here is the first one that survived to retirement and I just made several of the survival rolls by an eyelash.
I am posting this for review to make sure I covered things correctly. I put it in a table to be easy to look at. Once you let me know that I didn't miss anything important, I will post it in the completed character thread in the proper format and work on finishing up a second one.

Impressive. Did you do all your aging rolls? There's our scout ship for a scout campaign... Yes, I did the aging rolls and the saving throws, I hope I did it correctly. The adjustments lines summarize all the different adjustments.

As ffilz said, there would be 5 aging rolls needed for each of the first three stats. DId you get lucky, or do some rolls on the Personal Development table?

As a TL-17 (H) world, it's beyond the technology in Books 1-3, but it's your game...

Darci, Frank makes a good point. Could you see your way for having a different home planet? I think reserving the Altair group for future adventure would be a good idea

As ffilz said, there would be 5 aging rolls needed for each of the first three stats. DId you get lucky, or do some rolls on the Personal Development table? I misunderstood that part of the table and I made the additional aging rolls and saving throws and added another adjustment line and then the new total remaining for those stats. I did roll well and I did have some rolls on the Personal Development table. Of the four additional aging rolls for each of the three stats (12) I made saving throws for 7 and missed on 5. That is now reflected in the table.
