0309 Xenon E 788465-5
Starport Type E - The blasted-flat rocky plateau which serves as Xenon's starport barely deserves the name. It is primarily used as a stop-over by ships travelling between the two systems of the Teal-Vandor Confederation.
Planetary Size 7 - At approximately 7,000 miles in diameter, Xenon is a typical Terran-norm world.
Atmosphere Type 8 - The dense atmosphere makes life uncomfortable in the lowlands, although the air at the starport plateau is perfectly fine (if rather frigid). The natives, on the other hand, cannot survive at such altitude, which is the main form of security for the landing ground.
Hydrographic Percentage 8 - Much of the planet is covered in a multitude of seas, lakes,, rivers, and oceans. The remaining land masses are small, scattered, and mountainous.
Population Size 4 - About 70,000 people live on the largest island, divided into two main groups. The Seska practice a limited form of psionics with the aid of heirloom cybernetic implants. The Hommiks are a gleefully barbaric people who try to ignore the limited technology which they rely on. Both groups are antagonistic towards one another, and relations often deteriorate into open conflict.
Government Type 6 - Xenon is technically a joint colony of the Teal-Vandor confederation, but neither group has the manpower to exploit the system.
Law Level 5 - The Teal-Vandor Confederation forbids the carrying of most firearms on planet, which obviously does not apply to the native population. The main reason for the prohibition is to prevent the locals getting hold of advanced weaponry, should the two ever come into contact.
Technological Index 5 - Both Seska and Hommiks have developed a pre-atomic level of technology, but the two sides view it in very different ways. The Seska are deeply derogative of the Hommiks because of their deliberately backward ways, and have a much higher opinion of their technological superiority than they ought to. The Hommiks dislike any open show of technological devices, and aspire to a simple, crafts- and combat-based lifestyle.
Notes - Travel outside the starport is dangerous for offworlders. Seska have an unquenchable avarice for high technology and will happily steal, kidnap, or kill to get it. Hommiks simply try to kill all foreigners (or each other, if no foreigners are to hand). Seska do trade with the occasional trader passing through, however, and so get their hands on the odd high-tech device from time to time.
