Wargaming crops up in discussions all over the board given how OD&D arose historically. Several of us are interested in the kind of domain level play discussed for name rank players and the wargame campaign as it led to what became OD&D. What do people think about having an area devoted to wargaming, both board and miniature?
Admin Note: I re titled this thread to focus the discussion.

One thing I want to avoid is to duplicate/ compete with existing successful online resources - let's not cannibalize ODD74's Chainmail forum for instance. Not to say we can't discuss Chainmail here, just that I think discussions of Chainmail per se -- not in the context of an OD&D-like campaign -- should be over there (to give one prominent example).

There are a lot of other Wargames and there is all of the Tony Bath stuff to discuss if someone has access to that information.

My copy of Tony's "Wargames Campaign" is in storage. I miss it enough I'm considering buying a reprint.

I hope you go ahead with this. I know nothing about wargames and would love to read what you have to say.

Won't some duplication be inevitable? And that should not be a bad thing. We may find new discussion of things here and I rather doubt that a well established forum has anything to fear.

I am sure that there are more people than this that have an interest in this. Please comment if you are interested in this topic, otherwise we don't know if you don't comment. So please help jmccann out and let him know that you share this area of interest.

I am definitely interested to read about this, but refrained from commenting because I have never played a proper wargame and will not be able to contribute.

There is (or can be) a fair amount of overlap between high level play and wargaming (see Dave Arneson The First Fantasy Campaign), so you might find more to contribute than you think.

I'm interested, not so much in miniature wargaming, but more along the levels of mass combat as it was used in D&D, notably in domain level play.
Are we chiming in here to broach the subject, or just to express interest?

This is to indicate interest and I think there is enough so that we can add this to the board.

I am using this location for now, but I am open to locating this board elsewhere.
