Damsels, Adventurers, and Dragons is a pretty accurate clone of AD&D 2E. I did make some changes that I thought were needed. First I added Appearance as an attribute. I split attractiveness from Charisma because I always found it to be confusing for both players and the GM. Is your character more beautiful than persuasive or vice-versa. Appearance adds a reaction bonus, so it stacks with the one from Charisma. I added a few new races as player characters. Elven sub-species are Dark, Gray, High, Water, Winged, and Wood. Dark Elves are left up to the Adventure Master to decide the society and culture they want. They are still evil though. Kobolds are a player race now. I made them be relatives to dragons and split them into tribes based upon the color of the dragon they're related to. They also have the same alignment and live in the same terrain as the dragon of their color. Kobold sub-species is Black, Blue, Green, Red, White, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Gold, and Silver. The classes that they can pick are Fighter, Cleric, Mage, Thief, Fighter-Thief, Fighter-Cleric, Fighter-Mage, Cleric-Thief, and Mage-Thief. A new base class that is the Monk. Monks are part of the Priest group, so they get spells like clerics and druids do at first level. They cannot wear armor and are limited bludgeoning weapons as per clerics. Monks AC improves based upon level. They can wear cloaks or rings of protection. Monks can specialize in any of the three combat styles which are punching, wrestling, and martial arts. Specialization grants bonus to hit and damage. Their damage starts at 1d4 at level 1 and can improve to 1d10 at level 12. Their attacks count as magical weapons upon reaching level 4 and improves up to +5 at level 20. Monks cannot turn undead nor can they proselytize. They also do not gain followers. I added in more ships, the ability to upgrade them, their crews, and combat with them. The monster manual is called Kalarion's Index of Denizens and Sorcery. The abbreviations for the core rules, setting, and monster manual is DAD, MOM, and KIDS. I'm thinking of calling it The Family System. That will surely make it easy to remember. If you call it The Family System you might want to add an extended tag to that, so people realize it is an RPG you are talking about.

That image of your cosmos is sweet!
Did you keep the melee round divided into segments? I played in a 2E campaign and using segments took an OD&D combat that would have taken about 10 minutes and expanded it to about a 90 minute exercise.

Thank you, I just used a random generator that is watermarked and added in the rest in paintdotnet. I don't use segments at all. I run combat as RAW with each player rolling initiative for their entire party. Their entire party then acts at once. Combat goes pretty quickly. Glad to hear it, I think combat should run as close to real time speed as possible.

I added in more ships, the ability to upgrade them, their crews, and combat with them. Cosmology got an overhaul. Instead of planes they are now planetary systems. The entire universe is based around galactic space. I also have cosmic horrors that are locked away in the Hellscape Dominion. Astral plane is now Astral Space that everything else resides in. Inner Planetary was the old Inner Planes. Ethereal Plane is now the Ethereal Nebula. Outer Planes is now the Outer Planets with the being split by alignment. All good planets are in the Luminous Expanse. All evil planets are in the Hellscape Dominion. Neutral planets are in between the two. True Neutral are in the center of the slice while NG are towards Luminous Expanse and NE are towards Hellscape Dominion. Harmonious Convergence functions as the link between the Inner Planetary Systems and the Outer. The only plane left is the Shadow Plane. The monster manual is called Kalarion's Index of Denizens and Sorcery. The abbreviations for the core rules, setting, and monster manual is DAD, MOM, and KIDS. I'm thinking of calling it The Family System. That sounds like utter perfection to me! I'm digging it and would definitely buy a copy of this. The Family System has a nice ring to it and the abbreviations for the books are great. I'm looking forward to hearing more!!!!

Could you tell me why you prefer it over the original planes? Two simple reasons. First, it's different. Second, it harkens back to the original blurring of the lines between fantasy and science fiction that took place in Blackmoor and has taken place in many campaigns.

Kyle of Nerdcognito has started reading DAD. In episode 192 Kyle briefly says what he did during the week which was DAD. It's right about the 3 minute mark of the show. He wants me to be on their show to talk about it and MOM. I'm tickled. Most excellent!!!

He told me privately that I have the makings of a strong game and that it's unusual to have a setting and core rules released at the same time. That is unusual! I think it is a good thing.

I was shadowbanned on my GJeston141 account, so I created a new one. It's @gorgonsgrimoire. EDIT: The forum keeps resetting the capitalization. The G in gorgons and G in grimoire should be capitalized. Do you mean over on Twitter? Here on the forum you have the display name and then the account name and forum account name is after the @ symbol and all lower case. So if you Post a name from somewhere else like Twitter is will not show Caps because that's just the way ProBoards is.

The first part of my comment was about the shadowbanning. But I could not tell if that happened or not.

The first part of my comment was about the shadowbanning. But I could not tell if that happened or not. It happened, because I can't see what I posted on George on the GG account. WOW, I cannot image what you would have been shadowbanned for, you haven't made any posts that controversial at all.

I have no clue. Yesterday, I couldn't post from 10 AM till after midnight. It kept saying that I was some bot. I can't even add a phone number to my new account. Wow! Here is a post you should read, it relates to your shadowban.

Wow! Here is a post you should read, it relates to your shadowban. Did you forget to add a link to the post? I added the link, but I don't know what happened to it. All of proboards has been up and down, so that might account for it. Apparently, there are claims that posting links outside Twitter can get you shadow banned and that you put your link in your profile and use hashtags in your posts. Not sure how much of that is true, but we shall see.

I swapped out the original PHB for the number 2 girl that's blonde. No, the guys was saying Twitter wants you to use hashtags in your posts and don't use outside links outside of your profile, but hashtags are good. That was the gist of the post I read and tried to link here.

Hmm I used the website link in my profile. It must be my "controversial" hashtags that are the problem. I'll see if it clears up. I don't remember any "controversial" hashtags, but then I am old and see things differently.

Update time: I had to redo the PHB four times to get the layout perfect for text. I just finished the AMG text layout today. I can't decide if I want to do KIDS or MOM next. Nice! Too bad it took four times, but I understand how frustrating layout can be.

I added to the rules for helms that they grant +1 AC while giving vision and hearing penalties. The great helm gets +2 AC, but higher vision and hearing penalties. I'm digging it!

I've added Crusader, Trader, Shaman, and Barbarian as classes in STEP DAD 1. DAD has Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Wizard, Cleric, Druid, Monk, Thief, and Bard in the PHB. Crusader and Shaman are both under the priest group, Barbarian is under the Warrior group, and Trader is under the Rogue group. Interesting.

Crusader has the THAC0 of a fighter, but can cast combat orientated spells. They cannot turn undead. Traders get a special version of Fast Talk that is an opposed roll. They have the same thieving skills as bards, but can't put any points into them at first level. They can wear any armor and use any weapon. The final thing is that they get agents instead of henchmen. Shamans can summon spirits of the dead or nature. If they summon nature spirits they can gain special abilities based upon the nature spirit's form like a spirit in the form of a giant eagle would grant the shaman the ability to fly. The shaman can experience things through the senses of the spirit. Shamans can cast priest spells. Barbarians get 1d12 hit dice. They are limited to 1 magic weapon, 1 magical armor, and 2 other magical items. They get back attack detection, can climb, and do standing/running jumps. Their number of attacks per round is level based. Monks get to take in two forms of unarmed combat. The three are punching, wrestling, and martial arts. AC and unarmed combat damage improves as they gain levels. Monks cannot use any magical armor, but can use things like bracers of defense. They can cast priest spells as normal and follow the same rules for priests. I'm digging it!!!
