(*****) These can be taken with a grain of salt, I am not watching all of these or vetting them in any way. I am looking for indicators that each one of these may have one or more good ideas and may in some way be useful. If you have never designed/built a world or campaign you can always ask questions on this forum and get quality answers. Watching these videos for a newbie should give you some ideas of both what to do and/or what not to do. In at least one of them it is said that you can not create your whole world from scratch. That is not true; however, it does take a lot of time, thought and work to be completely original. My take is be as original as you can given the amount of time you have to devote to designing/building your world or campaign. If you work 40+ hours per week and have a wife and kids, (or other similar high demand schedules) your life will dictate to you what you have time for. If your time is limited there is nothing wrong with taking pieces from near and far and twisting it a bit into your own thing; however, if you have time to build it from the ground up - go for it. If you are good at improvisation and can create on the fly as you referee your game, then try to read a lot of different source materials so there is always ample grist for the mill. Remember some of this is good and some of it you probably should ignore, choose wisely grasshopper! DM Basics - The Dungeon Master's Mindset and 183 other related videos
