I am a huge lifetime fan of this. I remeber the guy I used to watch when I was about 6 and lived in Pittsburg. His name ws Chilly Billy Cardilly and he showed movies late every Sat night. A lot of the movies I still love were there He ended up w a pretty big part in the Night Of The Living DEad, he is the reporter. Late in life he was part of the plot to fix pennsylvanias lottery by putting 666 in the machine, he is in jail. after that there were a lot.
Right now TV is have a bunch of them on. It prob started 3 or 4 years ago when Svengooli , a host out of Chicago. Ended up nationally on me tv, I watch religously. Retro TV has a bunch from around the country, 5ish on the weekend I watch almost all of them and record their shows. Thoughts?

Great shows! I always watch Svenghoulie any chance I get and Joe Bob Briggs. When I was a young lad, we had the Saturday night Creature Feature on the local FOX station. My favorite horror host in the modern era is Doctor Wolfula. I watch all of his reviews. Here's one just to serve as a sample.

It's a toss-up for my favorite two Horror/B film Hosts; Joe Bob Briggs or Gilbert Gottfried. They were both so incredibly funny, at times.

I remember Rhonda Shear from Up All Night on USA in the 1990s. But I'm not sure that was ever horror. Maybe sometimes? I guess she doesn't fit.
I remember that, in retrospect, as a "good time" for television. The night lineups seemed to say "yeah, you're up late, and you're watching television."

I just realized that no one has mentioned Elvira on this thread! I miss the whole "host" thing. Things are so atomized now. The million podcasts and all. In a way, I miss when there was only so much screen culture.

He could make a bad movie fun to watch because he always seemed to have a lot of information and comparisons to tell the audience.

I haven't seen this sort of thing in a long time, but have seen the related "American Movie Classics" kind of intro / outro host thing. I always like that. The manner that makes you feel like you're part of "people who see this movie" rather than just staring at a screen.

The only time I have had TV is during my marriage and once my wife passed I canceled my cable. From the time I left home until I was married I never owned a TV. The only one you have mentioned that I know is Elvira.

I've seen recent pictures of Cassandra, she has aged really well, still hot and that red hair suits her way better than the black hair ever did.
