Whispering to Ekhunoz: "Guy's serious 'bout keepin' it real, so tradin' him a fake ain't happenin'. Break in 'n take it later?" Though that has merit, she would know immediately it was me, perhaps we should look to the wisdom of the pack.Louder to the Bar owner. "Your rifle is a Gorin Clan, an old piece, probably a corporal's weapon. Might I take the helm off so I can smell inside?"
Besides smelling, Ekhunoz will be checking size. "If you treat it right, then yes." says Sam, "That one I got in exchange for clearing the bar tab of a retired Chief Petty Officer who was down on her luck."

Ekhunoz slowly unlatched the helmet, each side at a time.
Twists the helm to the left, up and right. Then tips it iff.
He brings it to his nose and smells, looking for a name tag.

With a raised eyebrow, Peng whispers back to Ekhunoz: "Yeah, she'll suspect you if the rifle's all that's taken . . . "

Ekhunoz There is a nametag, it is almost unreadable and the smells are very corrupted, but you make out Gosa###al. The smell isn't anyone you remember, but it is of a Vargr male. It's a years old scent and masked with several human ones...the latest is that of the bar owner, Sam. She's handled it in the not too distant past.

"She said it covered a bar tab, what type of tab do humans make. Perhaps that and a item for trade?"Ekhunoz "I don't know if you know, if you do, sorry, but..." Josef says, "A bar tab is a debt for the drinks somebody has had, but not paid for. The person in question probably had been not paying for sometime, but promising to pay, eventually. So, eventually finally came and Sam called in the debt and it was more than the person had in money, so he offered the gear in trade.""What I took from the story is that she is open to doing trades, though, so we probably need to to sound her out about it. See what she would want in trade for the rifle." he says, "Say, Ekhunoz, are you interested in the body armor and helmet, too?"

"What do you think, Jo? Can we pull a midnight requisition to get some lubricant?" "If I understand you wording. A Unit's leader has stolen a civilians reserved property for thier own personal use? Why would he risk that? If that were to become known within the unit, they could lose thier position? But I am willing to put the civilians position above the Unit leader. Where do you start?"Ekhunoz has been saying unit instead of clan or group.

"Sam let us go work on this a bit. We won't put you in any sort of legal jam, but if we can work it out, you'll have your special lubricate in a few days, okay. And in return, you'll turn over the Vargr Laser Rifle and the rest of the Vargr gear to us. Is that a deal?"
Sam nods her head and chuckles, "Yeah, that's a deal. If I get that 'special lubricate' I'll give your Vargr the gear as a present." Okay, guys, let's go talk this over..." Jo says as he heads back toward the table, "Sgt Major you can bring the rest of the squad up to speed on what we're doing...and the Officers?", the last bit is a question for Eric.

You document it and dump it so no one else ends up with below spec supply."
"So, we do a 'mid-night' supply run with a valid requisition for two cases of whatever this is labeled as, and some other stuff. Two so we can make sure we get both of the cases that are located in their inventory and other stuff so we can hide the cases inside a bigger order. That might give us a little more time before somebody comes calling at our ship.
Anyway, we also test the lubrication we got ASAP back at the ship and discover some of it is out of spec. So, we fill out the paperwork and get rid of it as ruined surplus. I think we would want to sacrifice a couple bottles of the ice wine along with other bottles of hooch when we 'toss the case into the tip' so if anybody starts digging around in there they'll find a broken wine bottle of the right type in there."
"That's one plan. Another is to transfer the good stuff into cheap bottles and fill the ice wine bottles with hooch making it look like the bottles weren't tampered with, and then return the case to the depot as non-standard material which it is, was, and always will be."
"The advantage there is that if the Admiral, or his people, look they'll see the right bottles and won't know it's the wrong contents until he drinks it...hell, he might not even know then. I'm not a winey, so I doubt I could tell the difference between good and mediocre stuff. If you thought it was this Ice Wine stuff could most people tell the difference?"
"Anyway, we give the bottles of hooch, with the good stuff in them, to Sam for the gear. Of course, that depends on if you can transfer the wine without ruining it, I suppose, and about that I have no idea."
"Of course, one of you might have a better idea?" , Jo looks around, his gaze lingering on Peng whom he already suspects of being good at this sort of enterprise, "Like the media thing...though I doubt that would be fast enough and wouldn't get the stuff to Sam anyway. The Admiral's people would just destroy the evidence to cover it up."

"That's one plan. Another is to transfer the good stuff into cheap bottles and fill the ice wine bottles with hooch making it look like the bottles weren't tampered with, and then return the case to the depot as non-standard material which it is, was, and always will be."
"The advantage there is that if the Admiral, or his people, look they'll see the right bottles and won't know it's the wrong contents until he drinks it...H e double hockey sticks, he might not even know then.
The Admiral's people would just destroy the evidence to cover it up." Eric"It sounds like we've talked it over as much as we can. Now we need to look over the facility and see how hard it will be to get in. We'll need to get wine bottles to swap it out with and any equipment we need for that, under the table. Anything else before we scout?"
