I know I've said it before but there's a notepad & pen on my nightstand as well as a notebook I take to work to jot down ideas in on the go. I should do that. It helps when you get ideas at strange or inopportune times.

Creativity requires a degree of freedom. Easy to say, sounds trivial, but true. Someone who cannot engage in creative endeavors is actively limited in some way, by exhaustion or law or habit or custom.

I'm sure many of us can relate to that!

Someone who cannot engage in creative endeavors is actively limited in some way, by exhaustion or law or habit or custom. I think it also requires a degree of difficulty. Despite the ease of the creative spark sometimes, I think that pushing against the medium (painting, words, whatever) is part of what produces the creative product.

For me, it usually helps to have several projects going on at one time. With my attention going back and forth it actually helps me to develop better ideas by focusing on more meaningful ideas for each project. If I focus entirely on one project, my creative juices slow down.

For me one thing that helps me be creative, aside from live in person gaming, is to set a deadline and then work like crazy when I am right up against it and then serendipity happens in the midst of that.

Another thing that helps me is to set a quantity goal and then work like crazy to hit it and then serendipity happens in the midst of that.
