I wish other games would have gotten into the solo gamebooks like Tunnels & Trolls did back in the day. I would dig that! I've never played T&T. I've only ever played it solo but it does solo well. Quick and easy. More meat to the rules than those old gamebooks but not overly complicated.

I am in favor of death being final almost all of the time. If the players really want to raise someone, it will not be quick or easy.

I like the idea of returning from death being epic and the stuff of legends. Perhaps the spell is known, but it can only be cast with the aid of certain relics (which are lost, or hard to gather), at certain places (surely legendary and hard to get to, especially with a dead body in tow), and at certain times or under given celestial or weather conditions. Perhaps even a combination of them would be appropriate!

When is it appropriate to try this, is it even possible, has it ever occurred or is it just a legend? Is there an unforeseen consequence to the attempt? As in the Philip Dick story " Upon the Dull Earth."

I like that idea of a struggle over the spirit kind of like in the Arnold Conan movie.
