Be it weather or plants - Xul is a world full of weird wonders, and quite often dangerous ones too... Here are some natural phenomena to be found in this setting:
Acid rain
For reasons unknown, certain parts of Xul are affected by acid rain. Thankfully, this is a rare phenomenon, since the corrosive acid leaves a deformed wasteland and bleached bones in its wake...
Boiling seas
Another weird phenomena, where the sea appears to be boiling despite the temperature of the water, although very hot, not having reached its boiling point. This is quite common in the ocean southwest of Xul, having sailors naming it the Boiling Seas.
Cryovolcanoes
Strange volcanoes in the polar areas far up north, erupting ice and extremely cold gas. A beautiful but deadly phenomenon.
Fern forests
Spread across the continent of Xul there are several regions covered by giant versions of fern plants. These are the homes of several herbivorous species of dinosaurs - and the predators eating them...
Fungal forests
In certain parts of Xul various fungi grow to abnormal proportions, covering large areas of land which makes them appear like very strange-looking forests, inhabited by many weird creatures.
Intelligent plants
As mentioned in the bestiary, Xul is the home to a variety of more or less intelligent and predatory plants.
Poisonous geysers
Poisonous geysers are sometimes found in jungles or swamps, spewing out oily colourful bubbles containing poisonous gas, which is discharged once the bubbles burst.
Radiation
Certain regions in Xul have been affected by some sort of radiation, permanently altering the appearance of the land and its inhabitants. The radiation probably has its origin in one of the ancient cultures once ruling Xul in a distant past. The landscape in those regions often appear surreal and desolate, scarcely populated by mutant tribes and other weird creatures.
Sky colours
In Xul, the sky does not always appear blue. In the archipelago west of Xul it often appears in different hues of green, while in the Radiant Desert it goes from pink to yellow. In other places the sky might change colour from one time to another - red, purple, grey, orange - anything is possible.
Sonic deviations
Scattered across the continent of Xul, there are certain small areas affected by different sonic phenomena. In some of these, all sound is effectively muted, in others weird echoes or other kinds of distortion affect all sounds being made within the zone. Another strange phenomena is the places where sounds and dialogues starts to echo repeatedly hours or even days afterwards, creating a truly haunting atmosphere.
