Non-Player Characters: The Librarian Shh - A sage class character for the PCs to ask me questions through. He was a man or a woman who loved books. They claimed to have traveled the empire searching and dealing for rare books until one day after the war they discovered that they had metamorphosed into a book.

Hey, otto, this sounds really cool! I like it - this setting of yours sounds refreshing and inspirational. Keep it coming, I'd certainly like to read more! Also, very cool that you used that portrait for the librarian - I had a couple of Giuseppe Arcimboldo paintings as posters when I was a kid!

That’s wonderful, Necromancer. I like Acrimboldi’s ability to play with perspective. Whenever I am right, I try to remind myself of Acrimboldi and how a subject can be transformed through different angles.
Thanks for the kind words everybody. I wonder how other DMs set up their beginning sessions? My approach so far has been to think of a few necessary elements for the players the wander around in. Making it striking enough to draw them in to the exploration and the joys of poking around.
I’m impressed with the other threads. They are all so well organised and thought out. i need to up my game!

Thanks, DeWitt, I think the potential players in that setting of yours are in for a treat. I thought there was an almost poetic quality to the descriptions you posted, and I appreciated that. Really intriguing and evocative. And I have to repeat myself - I found the concept of the librarian really cool. Naming him/her Shh was just brilliant! I'm actually quite tempted to "borrow" the concept myself (in some form) if you wouldn't mind! Have an Exalt!

Frankly, I love the name as "the Hamlet of To Be Named." It speaks of the founders of the place being more involved in building than in naming, and of their descendents' faith in their yet-unwritten destiny. There's a lot of potential in a name which is still being earned.

Not sure on a name. We've been calling the aesthetic Wolf-headed Mysticism. So, I guess that's as good as any place name.
