How about one side of the page for text and one side of the page for a map (if provided)? What do people think of that format? Oh, I missed this before. I'm in!

If I had the time I'd participate. Good luck!

Ok, everyone, I would like everyone who is participating to confirm that with me ASAP. I have nine participants in the poll but unless I am counting wrong I do not have nine yes posts in the thread and I want to make sure I don't miss anyone. If I don't hear from everyone, I will try one other thing to identify the participants. But I don't want to delay the contest much more. I will accept new participants up to midnight tonight EDT for the Eastern time zone of the USA (Columbus, OH).
I will post the rules tomorrow for the Setting Contest and the deadline for your entry to be submitted.
First prize will be one of my copies of CZ1: Cairn of the Skeleton King (2006) by Rob Kuntz. Rob you are welcome to comment if you would like to. This was not written for OD&D; however, I think that it would be easy to use it for OD&D or clone if you would like to. I believe the target was the Advanced version of the game. Second and Third prize will be announced tomorrow when the rules are posted.

Hi PD. That's a nice prize being a 1st printing! Copies of it on E-Bay have sold for as high as $92.00 IIRC. Well, the mechanic is still pretty much backwards compatible with a little tweaking; and a lot of what I include is original content, so it's quite useable.
Maybe someday I can make all of my published stuff available for OD&D (pdf) ....
Otherwise good luck with the contest.

Hi. Only just seen this as I've been out of the loop for a while, but, workload permitting, I'm definitely interested in having a go if I've made the deadline.

Yeah, I wanted to give out a prize that make it worth peoples time to participate. Yes, making everything available for OD&D (pdf or POD/pdf) would be awesome.

I am confirming I will participate. I have no idea the quality of what i end up offering; so be warned. Of late, I have been neglecting much of my forums time in favor of my newest addiction: Huniepop!

Is this still on? I would love to try making an entry, but if I fail, I don't want my entry to have been necessary.

Yes, this is on, I just not yet had time to post the rules and dates. Today turned out to be busier than I expected.

In addendum to my previous post-- IF moi was, somehow, proclaimed the winner of this shindig, I'd like the prize/s to go to a deserving (new/er) gamer-member. At my age, I don't need to croak and have a bunch of stuff in my closet, only to be yard soled off by my wife!

Having moved last week and only last night getting AT&T to transfer my internet access (slow, slow AT&T people!) I see this thread for the first time since April 3.
I'm in, albeit announcing in a tardy fashion.
(There will now be a short pause as everyone says "Big deal.")

I'm in. Or rather, I'll do my best to make it before deadline (whenever that might be...!?). Nice to see things moving - I'm really looking forward to see some cool and creative writings here! I've got a few ideas, I just hope I manage to make something of it.

Ok, here we go:
Contest
One Sheet Campaign setting! Words on one side of a standard sheet of paper 8.5" X 11" and a map on the other side of the sheet. Looking for each persons unique spin on a campaign setting and hoping that we have a hard time judging them because all of them make you say, "I wanna play in that game". You won't have a lot of room so being crisp, concise and succinct will be to your advantage and yet evocative and mysterious. Looking forward to seeing each of you bring your map to life!
Submit in preferably a pdf file. Most applications these days will print to pdf. If you have any problems with doing that please let me know. I am open to other things if you are unable to produce a pdf.
Starting today 4-13-16 you have until 4-30-16 to complete it and submit it to me by midnight on the 30th EDT. Please send submittals to theperilousdreamer at gmail dot com.
I have one judge so far besides myself and I hope to have a couple more.
First prize will be one of my copies of CZ1: Cairn of the Skeleton King (2006) by Rob Kuntz.
Second Prize is The Convert by Frank Mentzer - Gary Gygax presents Fantasy Master for Mid-Level Characters
Third Prize is four issues of Dragon Magazine #100, #116, #128 and #134

Sorry that you have to bow out. Hopefully if we all have fun with this one we can do more of them. How many "first prizes" do you have...? Only one like this one, I am keeping my other copy. I am not in a position to have any more "first prizes" like this one. But since I did have two copies I thought it would be fun to make the first contest special. I would like to do more contests but the prizes will be more modest.

Is there a standard for this kind of thing that I'm not aware of? I mean, is everyone else around here deeply conversant with the conventions of one-page settings? I'm most anxious about / looking forward to the nap. I mean map.
