Tony Bath did some great stuff, and pretty innovative for the day. I have a copy of his Setting up a Wargames Campaign book and love to skim through it when I want campaign inspiration. I keep it in my box of Conan stuff, due to his long-term Hyborian campaign.
Sadly, I had never heard of Bath "back in the day" so I can't say that he influenced my campaigns one whit ... but if I'd see his book a decade or two earlier I'll bet my campaigns would have been changed by the experience.

Perhaps more commercially, than scholarly, in intent... But a quick curiosity-filled Google search brought up the following product page: www.wargaming.co/recreation/details/tbcampaigns.htmSeems to be a "One book to rule them all" sort of thing; All his books of rules compiled. I'm quite intrigued. Anyone play these rules before? It's a Hyborian campaign... Does this mean sorcery rules, too??

Remember that his campaign was mostly play-by-mail miniatures stuff, so there won't be a lot of flash-bang roleplay spellslinging. Think more like Chainmail in Hyboria, that's my recollection.

I appreciate the tip, Fin! I found some stuff online that said the spells were calculated effects, only... and it was up to players to imagine them as lightning bolts or battlefield illusions. Kinda neat, really! I think it was a wiki page. Spoke on how spell effects might be destruction of, or routing, or perhaps removal off-board, of a unit. Might be fun to roll results in battle, then think which D&D spell just went off according to them
