You appear in a foggy deserted city street The place has the cleanest smell for a city that you can imagine. There is the sound of a huge waterfall that hurts your ears.
Your companions of the last 2 weeks are nowhere to be seen. But none of this gets your attention like the horrible screams that you hear.
You hear the screams over the huge wall of sound that is assaulting you. Along w the screams are the sound of a few voices that are mysteriously being magnified.
What do you do?

I run towards the magnified screams.
What do I smell? What is the quality of the light? What is the ground like? Do I see anything if I look straight up? First impressions, please, not 20 minutes of sniffing and looking

You see a small bunch of ordinary looking peeps standing directly in front of the open door to a middle class looking home, This is where the voices and screaming are coming from, no sign of waterfalls but you hear them. The peeps in the crowd of about a dozen are mostly in their night clothes and about 6 of them have lanterns or torches, almost all of them are yelling. only one of them is armed w a quarter staff and none of them are wearing armour. The area seems to be magnifying all of the sounds

He takes you to the third house on the right. There is an older woman(60?) who says to him"Jacob? whats going on?" he says I'm not sure but this gentleman looks like a sturdy fellow and might be of help."

"Who under heaven are the Zealots? And why do you people look so frightened?" Jacob takes a long breath and as he does this you are reminded of the sounds and smells of the City you are in. He looks at you and reluctantly starts to speak. "The Zealots are a bunch of arrogant and violent Horrors(all human). They are a bane to all of humanity and are too powerful for Arkham army to deal with, They are in fact the most powerful force in this world. They are all Witch finders and they see witches everywhere. The Goodwife is in serious danger of being called a witch due to the events of the last hour. They are no doubt on the way. They have no real power just force and their own warped code of justice. You are putting your self in danger by even being here. One thing of special note on them. They will ALWAYS start with their fists as they want sacrificial victims. If you surrender to them they will not even take your equipment and weapons. Also the detante they have with the army is such that they ignore everything about the city government and will be content to beat you up, They will never swear out a complaint at you and will just lke beating you to a pulp, this is a very real danger. If you walk away everyone will understand that you are not powerful enough to stand against them.They come in groups of 10. and are unarmored and brandishing long sword. OOC >at First level you are a force to be recon with so the prospect of getting into a fist fight w 10 zero level does not frightenyou. If they are zero level you would be over matched but you would get a lot of them hurt before you go down, It is a very low powered world and you are special.> |
