The Perilous Dreamer I am glad I posted that. I also love the song but had no idea anyone had ever covered it or that it was popular. I don't know how popular it is overall, but I would say it is popular with most folk music fans. My favorite genre of music.

When I ran into Iris DeMent it was kind of through her association with country. That's awesome that that song has a life of its own. I think of it as this 90s gem that no one knows. Take note it is also about creativity.

The Perilous Dreamer I like this a lot. I hear in her voice what you said (I think) about Stan Rogers, that his voice had a Celtic sound to it. I assumed she was part Irish or something, and it turns out she's just Canadian.

I knew that intellectually, sort of, but my ear had never picked it up before.

Not medieval, but entirely worthwhile. One of the comments says that the section that begins at 5:10 is especially noteworthy...I agree. Sounds like a theremin crying in about 1929.

To me, this is a great story song. And it hasn't aged a bit.
