I agree, a fanzine could be really cool. Also a lot of work, but also really rewarding. It is very cool to get published and to see your name on a book (even if it is "just" a pdf). So has there been any discussion on the content? Ya'll will need some kind of rough plan.
I can tell you that if you want to put something in Drivethru (even if it is a free download), put some cool images on the first 6 pages; that's what people see when the click on the "preview".

We have a private forum called "Working Name " The Frosthelm Chronicles"". Right now it has 55 threads and 440 posts, most of it is either overhead talk or ideas and pieces. It has been quiet, this summer with some but not a lot of posting in during the summer. I am hoping that some of these ideas start being fleshed out. Right now if everything proposed was done we would have material for about 2.5 issues is my guess. We are not looking at a variable number of pages each issue, but looking at 74 pages every issue plus cover. Yes, thank you for the suggestion of loading the first 6 pages with cool images, great idea. Looking at it being free for at least the first several issues and using only free (public domain) or donated art. Do you have content suggestions and are you interested in writing something?

I'm really not sure what I can contribute, but if I can do something, I will do something.

In one replies so some of my latest postings it was suggested I write some of my ideas (about cantrips and imbue-able items) as an article, if there is room for some articles about cantrips, adding taboos/geas/geis to magic items or conditional/regional/situational magic.

There is room for all of that. We want to have enough material in for two issues when we publish the first issue. Admin Pete please add arjen to the Fanzine forum.

Well, I would certainly be interested to read the fanzine. I don't know if my life will allow me time for writing any articles, or proof reading (editing). It's possible that I may be able to scribble something, or proof read a section. I will let you know, PD if it's possible. There may be a catch if you want to allow Contributors to own their content, not pay them for work (even a small fee) and want to be reprint their writings forever (I hope I'm wrong). This sounds like an exciting endeavor.

Contributors own their own content and have the right to publish it anywhere they want. Contributors understand up front they are not getting paid and that they are granting permission for the fanzine with their content to be reprinted/republished forever and that includes best of collections of the fanzine, if enough issues are created that a collection would be worthwhile doing. If these conditions are a problem for a contributor, then you can't be in the fanzine, but if you want to publish it some other way you have our full support in doing so. Doing a fanzine that you can't reprint/republish would be a waste of everyone's time. Anyone who downloads the fanzine is free to print a copy for their own use, but not sell it. If it is distributed where hard copies can be purchased it would be at cost for the platform, but with no money coming back to those creating the fanzine. I don't play the lottery, but if I won, I would be happy to pay contributors, but as I have no money to pay and I am not going to fool around with selling something, that I would need a professional staff to manage properly and handle the tax problems something like this could easily create, it will all be for free. I don't see this as a problem, but I am not twisting anyone's arm to contribute, so anyone who sees it as a problem is welcome to read, but not contribute. Even those that are contributing can change their mind right up until just before it is published. When we are ready to publish, I will post a notice on the forum and give anyone a few days to pull out if they want to and I will have something of my own to replace it with if needed. ******************************************************************************************************************************* I will add that if it is ever possible in the future to publish a more professional version of the fanzine for money, then at that point each contributor would have the option of saying yes or no to the new publication, whether or not their article would be included and payment would be discussed the contributor could say yes or no. However, this would be completely separate from the amateur zine we are currently working on and nothing would be reused in such a paid zine without permission. I do not foresee this happening given how difficult even breaking even is with these types of things.

That sounds well reasoned and thought out. I will look forward to the release of the 'zine, and I will let you know if I am able to provide articles or proofreading.

Inquiring minds want to know, what is the status? This is a work in progress, the real world has slowed it to a crawl, but I am confident it will happen. Right now though the time frame is pretty open-ended. Of course more writers and/or other help is always welcome.

We want a wide variety of voices for the fanzine; otherwise, it's basically a blog. Even if you only have one idea for contribution, that's enough.
