This is to let everyone know that I ( El Borak ) am stepping down from the Admin Pete position. I am also resigning from the staff as well. We have recruited a new Admin from outside the forum who will be assuming the position as soon as all the hoops with proboards have been jumped through. Please make him as welcome as you have made me. I have enjoyed my tenure as Admin and working with the rest of the staff. I look forward to seeing where this takes us. He comes to us from another forum and has been vetted IRL.

El Borak old friend, sorry to see you have to step away, but I understand. I am happy you were able to do it for this long and it allowed us to recruit a new (hopefully) long term Admin to assume the duties.

Welcome! But I think your use of “blackprince” is a little confusing, no? What name do you post under at K&KA?

Welcome! But I think your use of “blackprince” is a little confusing, no? What name do you post under at K&KA? Falconer I was not aware that anyone from any of the other forums was active here. I am not blackprinceofmuncie, he was already using that before I came along, which is the only reason that I am not using that name on K&KA and elsewhere. I decline to give you my name there, though it is marginally possible that I would not be banned at K&KA and DF for being here in this capacity, it is a certainty that I would be banned at the other forum and so to forestall that, discretion is the better path. I used blackprince here because I am a fan of the full name and I share some preferences with blackprinceofmuncie. With what I thought was no common membership, giving the shunning and banning of people who are active here, it never occurred to me that there would be any confusion. Anyone who is active on another forum has for the most part not logged in here for a year and a half or two, so I am surprised to see you here, but maybe you have been around long enough not to catch any flak. I doubt that privilege would be extended to me. If it is going to upset too many people, I could use something else, but I supposed a short form of the full name would be OK.

Yeah, I think changing it would be a good gesture, and will prevent a lot of headaches down the road.

I have edited The Village Elders & Classic Campaign Settings down to four sections which are The Twin Cities, Lake Geneva, The California Connection and Other Elders of Note. This spreads across Arneson, Gygax, Hargrave and a number of others. It spans Blackmoor, Greyhawk, Arduin, Warlock and more. Let me know if you have any questions. Some additional Organization will also be done. Simulacra of Old School RPGs are in the process of being relocated to a new Category titled Murkhill's OD&D Retro Games; Clones, Retro Clones, Emulations, Simulations and What Have You. This new category will have a number of sections and subforums to more fully cover the topic of "clones."

Another change that is being made is the scope of discussion. This forum was originally designed to have somewhat limited overlap with the other main OD&D forum. However, over the years the main rules discussion part of that forum has been placed in a bunker so that non-members can not read the discussion, let alone participate. Since so many are excluded from that information, the time has come to expand the scope of discussion to include OD&D rules discussion in greater depth that has heretofore been the province of this forum. Since so many are excluded from the hidden bunker areas of the other forum, there no longer exists any rational for not covering these areas of discussion.
The Murkhill Rules Discussion section has consisted of OD&D House Rules Discussion and OD&D Rules Discussion. That are will now be expanded as follows:
OD&D House Rules Discussion will have subforums as follows Old School Fan Magazines OD&D Philosophy of Play - Homebrew Rules (pun intended) The Unofficial Supplements
OD&D Rules Discussion will have subforums as follows Blackmoor/Greyhawk/OD&D variations before January 1974 Chainmail Men & Magic Monsters & Treasure The Underworld & Wilderness Adventures The Official Supplements The Strategic Review & The Dragon - aka Dragon
This will also include some topics that are not specially discussed on that other forum as well. This should serve the community well, since we are easy to join and none of our information is hidden in a bunker. While we will get into some of the RAW topics from time to time, we are primarily a practical bunch focused on the play of the game rather than rigid fundamentalism focused on by the book and the letter of the law as opposed to the spirit of the rules. We default to the spirit of the rules. At all times we remember that these are not really rules as most understand them, but guidelines and suggestions from those who did extensive play-testing. Understanding the rules is a good thing, but don't let it get in the way of having fun with your friends. The true spirit of OD&D is in tweaking things to ensure maximum fun is (as they say) had by all.
