Cedgewick that is very enlightening and very plausible. It also makes a lot of sense considering the gaming landscape at the time that ideas were traveling and borrowing could and did go both directions. It also makes a lot of sense that this is what inspired Gygax to add a fantasy section to Chainmail. Have an Exalt for all your work and research!

I cna't say whether this is plausible because I know so little about this time. But I really like the idea and it certainly sounds plausible. Learning about the origins of this hobby is a lot of fun. I wish I had someone who would have me over for a weekend and teach me to play Chainmail.
