The elves were having their 100 year anniversary of their beloved queen's rule. Elves from all over the world flooded into the Hometree to celebrate, but not everyone was happy. A poweful mage was shunned from the festivities . He performed a ritual to make it rain very hard but something went very wrong. The Hometree shattered into millions of pieces. Bits of tree pieces embedded in all the elves palm, filling them with rage.
They declared war on the world

Scarecrow
Another creature of mine that is more monster than magic item. Scarecrows are malevolent straw constructs that are being sold across the universe. They come in a huge variety but most have the following traits: Vulnerability to fire (150% damage, -2 to saves)Vulnerability to paladins because of their super evil(they get +2/+2), Immune to charm, mind affecting, thunder, sonic and cold.. AC varies from none to +2 Leather. They can be folded up and put in a back pack.
They are made by putting 2 souls in, one, any evil humanoid and one from a child(preferable one raised on a farm and under 12). How they are being mass produced could be the subject of an entire campaign
the following varieties are known to exist. They will always be encountered accompanying a group of evil beings(Only one per group)
Sargent:.capable of leading a squad(1-15)of evil humanoids w/ cunning, armed as they are.(4-6 HD) Captain: capable of leading up to 200 evil humanoids ably.(6-10 HD) Medic: capable of magically binding d6 hp on evil beings 3x HD per day (2-4 HD), Non combatant. Wizard. half their HD in wiz levels (4-15 HD) no non spell attacks, ac 9 Hexer: can cast the cantrip Hex an unlimited amount of times (1-3 HD)
Hex Spell at a range of 3,0 feet target gets -1d2 to hit for 1d3 rounds, no save, not cumulative.

Rune Wood Wolves
Thees wolves vary from deadly foe to minor annoyance. They feed on emotion, anger. They will not start any fight, preferring to circle emotional beings and drain them psychically.. Those drained are -2 to it and AC while they are under the influence.. stats as above average wolf.
The bigger the wolf the greater range they can effect. A young one would have to come into melee range to have an effect while a mature wolf could be up to 60 feet away. They have a normal wolfs attack but will only go after peps the strike them frst
Their blood is uefull in potions that involve thought or emotion.

Rage Elf imagethese account for about 65% of the total effected by the explosion. They are burning with rage and will instantly attack any living thing. Somehow most will not attack another rage elf. They will always fight to the death unless a greater power calls them off(which is extremely unlikely. They do not require food but still must drink water. AC 6 3 HD move 12 35% magic resistance 1 attack>Power Grab 3d6, save vrs magic for half They explode for 2d4 if killed by metal.

Guardian Gargoyles imagethese are created by infusing the spirit of a domesticated animal to a gargoyle sculpture. Ordinarily they serve the elves as loyal watch "dogs" but he rage is affecting them strangely. In battle they protect the Rage Elves by interposing there bodies against attack, They can tell if they are being attacked directly and only then will they respond in kind. Once activated in this way they will fight to the death. Ac 1 5 hd One attack for D10(see above) They save at -2 to mind effecting magic

When the great tree exploded almost all of the high level elves were present. This had a different response in them. As the other elves exited the area to begin their rampage, the high levels were left behind, falling to their knees and convulsing.
Ever watching, their dark foes took advantage of he situation. A small group of evil Necromancers and Sorcerers cast vile magic on them in their weakened state.
thus were created the Half Ragers.
Half Rager
Retaining their intellect by foul sorceresses , they were given control over the common elves.occasionally fighting each other. A very few guided themselves to rage against elven kind these were called Slayers and began a deadly atempt at stopping the madness .

The Big Picture
The elves are going to be using scorched earth in an attempt to kill everything and everyone. In an odd way this is very like a zombie survival game and can be played this way. When the PCs are low level they will be escorting refuges away from the carnage. As they get to mid level, they will be taking on isolated elves and some of the other threats that will arise and take advantage of the turmoil, At high Level they will be making direct action against the main body of elves
