Great story, mormonyoyoman , and nice photo. Has Popeye ever made an appearance in your freewheeling games? Never as an NPC. I did play him as a PC in a 1979 Traveller campaign in Oklahoma City.

To play in our group (the No-D&D Gamers of Oklahoma) you were required to take your turn gamesmastering. It was easy when there were only 3-5 of us; it got crazy by 1984 when we have about 20 of us, each with our own campaign(s) and rules. Literally, our PCs could try anything - and Traveller's rules were able to handle a Dr Who campaign (my wife ran) or Popeye as a retired Naval -- well, we never DID find out what he had retired from. But boy howdy, he had a ST of A-D (depending on spinach intake) and BRAWLING of G. But in Traveller, it's all about how much money you have available, and he always spent it all.

I haven't linked to this in a while so I will do so here, The purpose of these forums. Those of you who have been here a while look at it and see if now a year later it needs any tweaking; however, I am open to suggestions from all. Leave the arguments for other forums, we are here for creativity and innovation in each of our own campaigns, to keep them fresh and to go places we've never been.

I always enjoy encountering friends in new places. Ah, but it wasn't a "random encounter"; and the discussion of D&D and its many, varied properties are not new to us, or those here, so it's not a mysteriously aligned encounter either, eh? one minus any reason for either of us being here nor one, otherwise, making us unaware of being there (when not here or somewhere else).
