Cyril wants to know who's been screwing with the coffeemaker. OOG: What's wrong with a drink that tastes like mol é sauce thinned with espresso? OOG: It's just that Cyril thought cockroaches were extinct.

OOC: Hmm, I did something wrong, I came up with about 4.5 hours. I slipped a decimal point somewhere. OOC: It could totally be me. Maths! Hissssss! [OOC: I suggest using an online orbital mechanics calculator. Just plug in the known variables and click Calculate. Make sure you select the option to arrive AT REST relative to your destination, however!]

While Peng was awake for jump translation - with his turret's weapons powered up, just in case a pirate ship was hanging about within striking distance - he *did* resume his nap once it appeared the ship was not going to be immediately attacked. Awakening about hour later, he toggled on the ship's intercomm but found nothing of interest there.
[Internal Thought]Well, I guess I better take a shower then straighten up the turret a bit. Raven usually pulls an inspection sometime prior to planetfall.[/Internal Thought]
Unless intercepted by another character, Peng will go about the above activities until the next meal is announced.

The ship is a good bit further out than you'd like, but the trip in is without incident. By their transponders, there are a couple of ships in the system, but both are far, far, away from you and neither ever get within millions of kilometers of you before leaving the system.
As you near Shiralea you find it has a small orbital in high orbit. You are directed to dock there for inspection before landing on the planet. Getting docking permission you slide up next to the orbital and snake out an umbilical connecting your ship and the orbital. Lights turn green and and exchange over the comm with the station confirms you are solidly docked.
There is a ring over your comm, "Port Captain Anderson requests permission to come aboard."

A will give him the sniff test the next time he walks by.

Peng pulls a brightly labelled aerosol can ["Springtime Mountain Glade"] from his duffle and mists it liberally around the turret control space. He sniffs experimentally, then gives the space one last squirt. Before returning the can to his duffle, Peng pauses, then shrugs and sprays each armpit of his shipsuit as well.
[Internal Thought]Better go line up for the reception, I guess.[/Internal Thought]
Peng checks to make sure that both his Blade and Body Pistol are in their usual places and ready for instant use. Then, moving with no particular hurry (e.g. at his usual pace), he makes his way to the main airlock and joins the growing crowd. Peng gives anyone who glances his way a genial nod and a mumbled, "G'mornin'" as he settles into his place in line. Unless prompted to an Attention stance, Peng assumes a very relaxed Parade Rest . . . which coincidentally places his hand against the slit giving access to his hidden Blade.

Up on the bridge you get the okay to land.

Up on the bridge you get the okay to land. Takheal enters their destination into the navigation system and checks the resulting route, navigation aids, and comm frequencies to be sure everything is read for them to fly. Once all of that is done, he reports to Raven. "We're ready to fly, Ma'am."

The ship makes orbit and begins to descend. While you are bring the ship down, you bring up what you know about the planet.
ShiraLea has a Routine Starport without shipyards. You can get Major repairs done here and buy Unrefined fuel. There is refined fuel available for Scouts at the local Scout base.
The main world is roughly 14,400–15,999 kilometers in diameter, and is a Large terrestrial. The dense atmosphere (0.71–1.49 atm) contains an unusual taint, pollen from local plants that when breathed in cause severe allergy reactions in most humans. This requires the use of a filter mask when outside and cleaning in an anteroom when coming in from outside. Locals have become so adapted to the pollen that precautions are only needed during the Bloom Season. Visitors, though, need those filter masks at all times.
The surface is roughly 55–64 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a Wet world world.
The main world has a population of about 50,000 local residents, which qualifies it as a Moderate population world. Most of the population are religious refugees from Patagonia.
The local government is characterized as a Theocratic Participating Democracy, with government by advice and consent of the church members. Those who don't belong to "The Church" are effectively disenfranchised.
Visitors may find the law moderately restrictive. No skin can be shown in public, men and women all wear gloves, long sleeved shirts and trousers. The trousers are pegged and buttoned at the bottom to ankle high boots. Although, this is the law, it comes partly from the need to protect from the Pollen here on the planet. Light assault weapons are strictly regulated by local authorities.
Technology is described as Circa 1910 AD. Trains are the common mode of travel among the three small towns on a small continent in the northern temperate zone. Except for a nearby island, where the Starport and Scout Base are located, the rest of the planet is almost completely un-populated and unexplored.
Starport Island is operated under Patagonian law, not local ShiraLea law. On the island, the rules about clothing and religious regulation do not exist. The port is administered by the Starport Authority, working closely with the Commander of the Scout base. Travel between the mainland and Starport Island is by steam boat, air-ship and, occasionally, by grav craft.

OOC: Raven reviews the planet data and reminds everyone to wear their filter masks when they go out and to pay strict attention to the clothing mores.
Raven queries the computer records to see if there is any info at all about the other continents and the rest of the world. She wonders if this pollen problem is the whole world or just this area.
She also sends a message to Peng to see her before he leaves the ship, she feels the need to caution him about offending the locals.
Raven also sends a note to Dr. Vargas to inquire if a simple test can be done to check what level of sensitivity each of the crew has to the pollen. Just wondering if any of us would be able to function with the filter mask in an emergency.
Does the no skin include the face? Are we wearing hats, scarves, goggles and filter mask indoor and out?
