ImageThese fighters are highly trained as aids to combat. They belong to an elite force of knights that excel in team work, often staying w their employer for life. They have a special form of attack. If they roll to hit ac 9(that does no damage),they add either +2 to hit or damage for the melee fighter they are standing next to .Starting at zero level they can reach 5th, when they hit 5th their combat adds go up to +3.They can make normal melee attacks instead of their specialty.

So let me get this straight, they are fighting someone with AC 2 and the roll to hit does not hit AC 2, but if it was good enough to have hit AC 9, then the guy next to them gets a bonus to hit or to damage. That is odd to say the least.

Are these bonuses magical in nature? No, skill based.

Are these bonuses magical in nature? No, skill based. If there is no magic involved, then how does my failure improve the performance of the guy next to me. Seems no way this could be a skill based thing. There is some kind of magic transference of the effort of one that is adding to the effort of another.
