Dagger: +2 to hit vs. plate armor, d4 damage.
Arming Sword: +1 to hit, d6 damage.
Bastard Sword: On a Nat. 20 (or one if you use roll-under), deals an extra d6 damage. d8 damage.
Battle Axe: +3 bonus to hit but with a -1 to AC, brought back to equilibrium with a shiel. d8 damage.
Mace: Always deals at least one damage when target is wearing plate armor. -1 AC, d8 damage.
Spear: +1 to AC if another person with a spear is beside you, scales up to +2. Can attack from 6', d6 damage.
Zweihander: 1d10 damage.
Quarterstaff: +1 AC, d6 damage.
Based on Mao's post of a similar name, if you have anything you want me to add, just let me know.
One idea I had with this is to have these as things the fighter gets as a class ability, but the damage and other things would still stay (like spear attack distance).

First off, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I like your take on this. It actually kind of fits in between my 2 lists nicely. Yours is a slightly more realistic take. Well done elanfanboy.

Well done elanfanboy . You're welcome, I also think it would be fun to add more polearms. Polearms were much better weapons than swords, swords were mostly backup weapons. With polearms you get to attack them with just as much (or more, because leverage) destruction as a sword.

I used to be a big sword guy but in old age I prefere all the weopons more or less equal. Oh and before anybody gets cranky about this TPD and I encouraged the OP here
