I was wondering which edition of Tunnels & Trolls are your go to to run or play in? 5e T&T, 7e T&T or Deluxe T&T?

I use dTnT - mostly for the color pictures. Don't really refer to the rules often; everything I need to remember is on one side of a piece of paper. There are plenty of people who favor v5, I loved v4 and v7.5 a lot. One thing I stole from dTnT was its Humans Do Over rule. It actually works to increase realism within the game.

I have the reprint, which was part of the dTnT Kickstarter, and have played it once since then. My first TnT manual was 4th edition back in 1976 or thereabouts. Each editing, even the Deluxe (which is 10th by my count) are almost exactly the same, just increasingly better art and printing. I love what Liz did with Deluxe, making humans truly desirable to portray via her ruling that human imagination enables us to figure out possible outcomes, and represents this by ONE do-over per failed roll.
That, and her absolutely gorgeous art and editing makes the hernia-inducing book the classiest volume on my groaning game shelf.

I'm not BraveWolf nor do I play one on television, but 1st edition TnT had two things going for it.
1. Well researched. 2. Success tied directly to attributes. 2 again. It was purple.

In what way(s) is 1e well-researched, & are you contrasting this quality with the later editions? I see good-quality research in the granularity of the weapon & armor types in the "Elaborations" section of the document.

In the days before Google, the best ways to research were to hire a professional or live in a well-stocked library. Ken was a librarian, who spent his off-duty hours in that library.

I am sticking with version 5. I messed around with dT&T, but the added complexity just seemed to get in the way. I am used to 5th edition, and don’t mind ignoring it.

Ohhh shiny thread! Did I ever run it? Yes, 5th ed. back when I bought the cool, Black as a Trolls Heart, boxed set in 1984 (all original material long since gone). Did I get to play it with anyone? No, sadly. I "played" through the solo adventures back in the day (meaning that I cheated by looking ahead, ). I have recently purchased several solos as PDFs, and played through them as honestly as possible. I died. A lot. On the Trollbridge several threads have come up on burning Luck (an attribute) to try another shot at something that killed you.
