Where do the Lord's half-orges usually take refreshment? This location still seems (IMHO) the best choice for a venue in which mine and Darci's four characters (at least) can intially interact. NOTE: While Sora appreciates the offer of a free private room from the innkeeper, occupying accommodations which the innkeeper could rent for [still-rather-scarce] profit seems a needless extravagance to someone who has sworn a vow of personal poverty. He and Josiah will be quite comfortable in the hayloft. Sora also will not insist on the two of them performing chores in return for meals (although he will offer this), but the two of them will (as veteran warriors) insist on taking care of their mounts themselves. ************************************************* After digesting all of the information he and Josiah have acquired over past while . . . [How long ago did my character's arrive? How much time has passed since then and the arrival of Darci's PCs? I suggest that Seth's PCs not arrive until he posts to this thread, after which occasion we can encounter them.] . . . Sora comes to the tentative conclusion that the course most in line with service to Molvigg would be to return the refugees (both Halflings and Half-Goblins) to their rightful abodes by eliminating the cause of their displacement and (not incidentally) recovering the Lost Traveller Prince Halborn (or at least his body). The prospect of loot - with which to construct a new chapterhouse to further the glory of Molvigg - is not to be dismissed lightly, either.

The Half-Ogres take refreshment at the Wayfarer's Rest as that is the popular place for the guards, while the merchants and many of the artisans partake at the Dancing Hob instead. You'll likely have met Darci's PC's at the Wayfarer's Rest as well. You can sleep in the hay loft over the stables if you insist. raikenclw said: You've been here at least half a week to a full week as the passes just cleared. It is a northern clime so the passes often take till mid to late spring to fully clear. Darci will have to answer the rest but likely arrived around the same time or just recently in the past day or so. Seth??? Did someone else want to join? I haven't seen a notification - hmmm I must check to see if I missed a notification or message somewhere. Towards the last bit that is something to discuss with Darci & Chet (and Seth?).

Tonight I am going to comb through my posts for Ruins of Dorgand so I can compile a document of local NPCs and businesses so I have them in one place for ease of use during our campaign and so I can label the map, scan it and upload it to the group.

What is the cost of room and board at the Wayfarer's Rest? How much is the beer?
How soon does the adventuring start? If our funds are sufficient to have a few beers now and then we will hang out and look for other adventurers that might team up with our kind of folk.

If our funds are sufficient to have a few beers now and then we will hang out and look for other adventurers that might team up with our kind of folk. I am basically ready but I want the labeled map uploaded (which I'll scan either tomorrow or on Wed) so that you fine folk can look at it and know what is what; and then I'll upload it the same day and I'll have all the needed NPCs worked up by tonight. So my side is nearly complete. Though we can start sooner if you don't mind if the map goes up after we begin, but if so; I still need to hear from Chet & Raikenclw before we start. raikenclw mentioned Seth's PCs & I am not sure who he is referring to (Chet?). And Chet needs to finalize his last two PCs (for 4 total).

Oops prices: common lodgings are 5sp a night, meals are 2sp, wine 2sp a bottle, a mug of mead 2sp or 4sp if Bungo's Mead, Beer is 2cp & ale is 5cp. Things are more expensive at the Dancing Hob, but well worth the price.

Unless you need to know these last two's bonus points and sock colors, I guess I'm ready. I doubt either of them will stop in the village, though they probably wouldn't run into each until they are near the scene of the crime, since they're coming from not-quite-opposite directions.

(It's a good thing Sora and Josiah are sleeping for free . . .)
[OOC: I undoubtedly misread "Seth" for "Chet" - I've had a bit of trouble getting good sleep lately.]
If you want to open a scene where my two PCs, Darci's two PCs[, Chet's two initial PCs] and the two gate guards are all sitting around a table in the Wayfarer, that's fine with me. I suggest that we skip the actual introductions [I've experienced more than one PbP game that died before everyone managed to get introduced . . .] and assume this is our second mutual. In between the first encounter and this one, I and Darci can have made our various investigations, so we can roleplay relating these to the group, then create a plan on how to proceed from this point.

As his doesn't have prices for lodgings and such things, only standard adventuring equipment and that was what Darci was asking for. Standard equiptment is by the book, but these items are based on Castles & Crusades as it was what I had handy. [ Note: I changed the Wine cost to line up with the default DD price list.]

You might also consider this: www.backgroundexposure.com/harn/eharnica/internet/Prices.pdfThis pricelist is based on the costs of things in 12th-13th century England, adjusted for a land where the virgin forests have not all been hewn down. A penny is a small silver coin and a farthing is literally a "fourth-ing," where such a coin has been cut into roughly equal quarters. There are no copper coins and gold coins (worth 240 pennies) are only very rarely seen.

Oh! Almost all prices are given in pennies (abbreviated "d" because a penny is composed of - in theory - one dram of silver) or farthings ("f"). I came across only one "L" which IIRC stands for "pound," which (again IIRC) equals 120 pennies.

Anything much longer than that would be a problem financially.

Mighty Darci mormonyoyoman raikenclwTell us a bit about your characters, appearance/dress, visible weaponry carried unconcealed & any introductions/info you shared between you during your first meeting; plus their personalities (Chet mentioned his to a degree in his write ups for Karba & Trask) - just what would be apparent to the others during their initial meeting. That way you don't have to recycle the intro's in game based posts. [ Note to Darci: check the Class & Race thread I've added common physical descriptions for Half-Orcs & Half-Ogres, note the " often" in bold text, thus you can have your characters appear as you desire.]

I realized that I was somewhat lacking when it came to describing what Sora looks like, so I posted a pic of a reddish-scaled, horned and spike-tailed Tiefling at the bottom of my recent post to the action thread. NOTE: Sora is pictured wearing a Western-style duster over his leather armor, holding a mace rather than a long sword and has neither roundshield or nasal-helm. But that's what you have to deal with, when you are not yourself an artist.

And I just realized that THIS is the OOC thread for the game . . . the long title of the subboard had me confused.

Cross-posted from the Intro thread to it's proper place here:
I use quotation marks and purple text to mark off my PCs actual spoken words.
I use italics - without either quotes or font color - to show what my PCs are verbalizing internally to themselves. I prefaced the particular such thought I just posted to the action thread with "Sora thinks:", to be sure this was understood. But I normally just use italics alone. Such thoughts are posted so that other participants can - at their own discretion - have their characters realize that something like these thoughts have crossed my PCs mind, through the medium of various non-verbal clues (which PbP can not provide).
Deeper thoughts and feelings of my PCs are not "spoken" in such a manner and are therefore provided in support of metagame decisions, so that others can see the direction in which my own thoughts are trending.

TPD titled it based on punning from earlier in another thread. I refuse to change it as when I read it I think of TPD.
