The "I" here was The Perilous Dreamer the former Admin and it is he who started this thread.I thought I would start a thread here and roll up each day (sometime during the day) a character for OD&D using 3d6 in order and have all of you create 1st level characters using the 3LBBs, the Supplements and The Strategic Review for classes and options. Feel free to use something other than the standard PC races if you wish. Include starting equipment the rolled up Gold and the standard equipment table prices. If you use a piece of equipment that is not on the table, tell us what price you used for the item. So pick the race, class and equipment and associated starting details for the character sheet. Each day just quote and use the newest rolled up stats as posted by me. Character #1 STR | INT | WIS | CON | DEX | CHA | G.P. | 10 | 11 | 10 | 12 | 14 | 15 | 90 |

Species: balrog Race: black Class: magic-abuser Age: 7
STR 16 DEX 5 CON 6 INT 11 WIS 12 CHA 10 G.P. 0 Align: Chaotic Lawful ("Mister. Hey mister! What am I supposed to do now?")
Name: Tanku Backstory: Summoned by a 7-year old apprentice wizard, he's every party's dream wizard: a 7-year old 7'9" magic-user who wields either Sleep or Fire (bolt or ball?) with all the efficiency of a person with a DEX of 5.
As for the 7-year old apprentice, Tangu will (if pressed) sheepishly admit he was hungry.
Almost always needs to go potty when inconvenient.

That's what I get for rushing, rolling, and texting at the same time. (Hyper? Me? At my age?) But at least I got the joke about statting a young balrog out of the way. Now for the real thing.
Later. There went the phone again.

You rolled this with 3d6?? Yes, 3d6 in order one time through. I am going to see how long I can do one of these every day. And I hope a lot of you build character off the skeleton that I provide. We could use them for NPCs.

This one has fast hands and is fair of face. A bard. He'll entrance any crowd as he empties their purses.

Oooh! Good choice @gizka are you going to flesh him on out? I'd like to see what you do with it.

Magnus Knutesen, Bard
Shorter than average, rotund with several chins, with a bright welcoming smile. Magnus has the kind of face that simply draws people in, they want to meet this guy. They listen to his songs and buy him drinks to keep him singing.
Magnus fights akimbo, with short sword dexter and sword-breaker sinister. He always wears a faintly perfumed blue and yellow scarf, he refers to it as "my lady's favour." Instrument of choice is a rather battered lyre, once a grand instrument but now the the gilt is flaked and the wood beneath darkened with years of handling. Magnus is an expert at knot tying, he knows all the standard knots and many obscure ones.
Equipment:
+Leather armor, dyed in subdued blue and yellow.
+Leather Backpack, dyed a surprisingly bright yellow.
+100' silk rope +1 weeks standard rations +flint/steel/tinder +lamp +3 vials of oil +1 vial holy water +water skin
+flask of most excellent brandy +book of music

Angus is a mischievous sort, likely why he was shunned in his shire & left to travel, landing in mannish cities where he thrives. He doesn't take to law but isn't a complete anarchist either. He enjoys the road, going on delves & simply seeing where the road will take him. He loves food, smoking a pipe, bedding wenches and playing at knife throwing competitions - not always in that order. He prefers to wear clothing in blacks, dark grays & green (when on the road). Angus has short auburn hair cropped close to his head with mutton chops & jade green eyes that sparkle with mirth.

I've become so fond of Little Tanku that I was tempted to just use these stats for him. Or her. But rather than make him useful, I've come up with this character: Jefferson Adams, fighting man with aspirations to becoming a paladin. Not for him the secluded life of a clergyman. There are wrongs to be righted, there are lives and souls to be saved! Imagine the reverse of "Fie on Goodness" from Camelot (the musical) and you have his view of life, the universe, and everything. It's no co-incidence that his primary assets of STR, WIS, and CON add up to 42. He spent what he had on the following (see below), and now he's looking for work and even though he's broke, he's fussy about whether the work is Good for Humanity. He's a royal pain much of the time, but he's so darned likable that people listen to him - despite his curious ways and addled philosophy. He secretly wishes he was a dwarf, but for the fact that he's sworn an oath of abstinence (He's a recovering alcoholic; dry now for 19 months.) and chastity. He attempts (and fails about 30% of the time) to save tithing from his earnings, planning on giving it to the first cleric with whom he agrees. He's had it with the petty gods of the usual fantasy universe. Has a mild aversion to the sound of dice rolling. STUFF Ink Pen 49 sheets of parchment waterskin wooden holy symbol or cymbals peasant's outfit (his usual wear, and will wear it over his armor when travelling where danger lurks. "Look!" he'll say. "I just saw a danger lurk!") light crossbow (perhaps it lights in the dark??) long sword ring armor Vick's VapoRub (I have no idea where he picked this up!) ALIGNMENT: as should be obvious by now, he affirms change and improvement. If we were in a faux 4-vector graph, he'd be chaotic good, but in OD&D he's just plain chaotic. RACE: Asian

I'll start using black on white to make it easier to read my gems of wisdom. I wouldn't want you to miss a thing!

I would let you play that character at my table, no problem at all. I would take the balrog too!

Day 2 Character #2 STR | INT | WIS | CON | DEX | CHA | G.P. | 13 | 8 | 7 | 12 | 11 | 6 | 120 |
Strong, not too bright, reasonably healthy: Kairos the Centaur
Wears custom plate, fights with a spear and uses a shortbow as a missile weapon.
His fondness for the drink the humans call "beer" keeps him either in the nearest tavern or out adventuring to fund his next binge. This one has a predilection for dwarven women it is best not to dwell upon or ponder too deeply.

Unfortunately for him, dwarven men are very protective of their wimmenfolk and those wimmenfolk also carry axes. Is he a gelding yet?
