The Wonders of Xôðûn:
There are numerous great wonders that populate of the world of Xôðûn:
The first is Khârnag, the turtle island home to the great magi and sage, Sandor the Wanderer. It travels the vast oceans of Xôðûn at the behest of its master; it is believed to be the creation of the Ocean deity Oob-Leng.
Second, is the Behemoth, a colossus creature with a black stony hide, upon whose back lays the black tower of the dark sorcerer Azor’Sikar. Its body sprouts wings to fly its master from place to place. Where ever it goes calamity will surely follow.
Third, are the great air whales, called Leviathans; upon their pod leader Abbir’s back resides the great air elementalist Styrmir the windrider. The Leviathans have stone like deposits that cover their bodies, which are also home to an avian race of winged folk, the Āvandiir who protect the Leviathans & trade with other peoples during their travels.
Fourth, are the Great Colossi of Khond – nine gigantic automatons that can sit motionless for decades before moving for some unknown purpose. They do not seem to decay but are often covered in vegetation and grime.
Fifth, are the Frem, a Manta Ray-like flying creature that are common near sky islands and they can be domesticated and used as mounts by the people who dwell upon the sky islands in their home territory.
Sixth, are the Quôl, a Hammerhead shark-like flying creature that are also common near sky islands and who are the Frem’s natural enemy, as well as for any avian creature that strays into their range.
Seventh, is the Yath-Xûn, great worms of the Yath-Voon Wastes; they have purple-red flesh & black stone-like carapaces along their backs, who burrow into the stone and lava laced landscapes of the wastes.
Eighth, is Quôl-Raask a gigantic Skark-like abomination that hunts the oceans attacking ships and occasionally Khârnag; though Sandor will calm him & send him on his way again to continue his hunt elsewhere.
Lastly and ninth, are the great Colossi of the Wastes of Kuum-Phad. They are elemental giants formed of magma & blackened stone; who stalk the wastes preying upon all they encounter.
Now to the natural wonders of Xôðûn:
First, there is the Wastes of Kuum-Phad on the western mega continent of Karôgan. It like its sister Yath-Voon Wastes on the eastern mega continent of Alamak, is a fiery waste of blackened stone and rivers of lava flowing from the massive central volcano, Kuum-Phad. Not only are the Wastes of Kuum-Phad home to the Colossi of Kuum-Phad, but as well as the nomadic Neb-Yab tribes. The Wastes of Kuum-Phad are ringed by the volcanic Gavrok Range and glass Wastes of Faran.
Second, is the Sky Isle of Arghēsōs, one of the largest clusters of sky islands in Xôðûn. On the largest Island in the cluster, lies the sky city of Athlōs, home to the great college of Magic & is ruled by the council of Magi. The City of Athlōs has the largest & most powerful sky-ship armadas. The grand market of Athlōs is a popular destination for sky-ship based merchant princes, most of which come from the Yrcanôs & Içindar, as well as Ord’Mong & the Āvandiir of the Leviathans.
Air piracy is forbidden within the surrounding airspace with Athlosite navy patrols being frequent. The Isle of Arghēsōs is also home to a wide variety of flying creatures, most of whom are mainly benign in nature. A large number of Frem live within the outer Islands & those are trained by the Order of Drôm and serve as mounts for their Knights.
Third, is the Yath-Voon Wastes home to the Yath-Xûn and the send largest concentration of the nomadic Neb-Yab tribes in Xôðûn. At the center of the wastes lies the great volcano Yath-Voon. Both the Yath-Voon Wastes & and the Wastes of Kuum-Phad are encircled by rings of active volcanoes. Beyond the Yath-Sorm Range lies the glass Wastes of Râhaz, which eventually gives way to Širak Desert.
Fourth, is the Pit of Halût; it stretches down two thousand yards into the Under Realm of Hothcol. The pit has a stone stair case carved into its sides that leads to the bottom of it, emptying into a massive cavern with a vast lake at its center. Several smaller caverns are located off of the main cavern at the bottom of the pit, as well as above it. These lesser caverns are reached by both natural tunnels and “man-made” corridors off the central stairs. Inhuman tribes and other monsterous creatures haunt the various caverns often attacking explorers and occasionally launching nocturnal raids on the nearby communities that sprung up to house and service the explorers that brave the pit for fame and fortune.
Fifth, is Broken Bay; home to the maelstrom of Tûl-Sorm and the sky island cluster of Pandak. There are also two larger islands that lie south of the maelstrom, Iôga & Calvar.
Sixth, is the island of Içindar that is shaped like a lions head and is home to the Içindarii people – they are a powerful magic using mercantile nation.
Seventh, west of Içindar is the island of Ôdîmôs where upon it was built the stone colossi of Arôzan. Arôzan was the great hero of the lost Içindarii Empire, of which only the city-state if Içindar remains. The Colossi of Arôzan is carved with his mighty arms thrust aloft as if holding up the setting sun or setting moon.
Eighth, are the twin jungles that dominate much of both the western continent of Karôgan & eastern continent of Alamak. The Jungle of Mong-Zhuul encircles the plains of Akirga, the desert of Gavrok, the Glass Wastes of Faran and the volcanic Wastes of Kuum-Phad on the continent of Karôgan; while the Jungle of Mong-Kû-Ôn encircles the Plains of Lê-Hûn, the Desert of Širak, the glass Wastes of Râhaz and the volcanic Wastes of Yath-Vuun on the continent of Alamak.
Ninth, is the Great City-State of Môrgath; which is built over the entrance to a massive dungeon complex of unknown origin – it is simply called the Môrgrim Under Realm. It is home to numerous deadly monsters and inhuman tribes which prey upon the foolhardy adventurers that dare to enter it. The City-State of Môrgath is encircled by the Wilds of Khond in the narrow northern temperate region of the continent of Alamak.
Lastly & tenth is the twin frozen arctic regions that dominate much of both the north & south of Xôðûn. In the north lies the frozen Wastes of Thosk and in the south lies the frozen Wastes of Haask. Both arctic regions are home to a diverse number of monsters and the nomadic Drôjj-Šeb tribes.
