So, who here is a fan of military-themed RPG's? I am particularly focused on 20th Century and 21st Century eras, stuff like Operation White Box (World War II), Recon (Vietnam War), Twilight 2000 (Cold War/World War III), and the Afghanistan D20 game released back in the early 2000's. I also welcome indie military RPG's like the Vietnam War-themed game GRUNT.
I personally love them as a concept, and I intend to acquire the PDF's for Recon and Twilight 2000 in particular once I get the OD&D PDF's off of DriveThruRPG.
I'd like to one day make my own humorous military RPG setting focused around anthropomorphic toy soldiers, similar to Toy Story, Small Soldiers, and the old Army Men video games from the late 1990's and very early 2000's.

I like Twilight: 2000 but never played it. I own the FFG combined 1e Twilight: 2000 version in print. I never played Recon or owned it though I do like Palladium games as a player & was sorely tempted to buy back in the day. The problem no one wanted to play them.I got Operation White Box & hope to find people to play it with eventually.
When it came to Twilight:2000 I preferred 2e as it was the one I owned initially & loved that I could make characters from different military branches, other militaries & civilian survivors. That appealed to me a lot - I either wanted to play as USMC Force Recon (My dad was a Marine), a British SAS or Israeli IDF member (from a supplement I think, not sure if it was official or fan made).
For less serious Military based game I'd love to play in a Anthromorphic Animal one; as I am a fan of Furry/Anthromorphic comics.
Another semi-military/spy/adventurer themed game I'd love to play or potentially run a Dieselpunk weird war II sci-fi pulpy game using OD&D or some mix of OD&D clones.

I would not mind running a Play-by-Post military-themed RPG campaign where the PC's are Anthropomorphic Animals (or Furries, if you will). I always liked Sonic the Hedgehog (particularly the Sonic X anime and the early Genesis games) and I think an anthropomorphic animal-themed military game could work as a somewhat less serious yet still very fun campaign concept. While I am not a furry myself, I do like this idea for a campaign.

Not quite the same, but I once ran a Bunnies and Burrows campaign where one bunny had psionic powers and managed to get himself elected mayor of the small village nearby. He had a Luger on a chain around his neck that he would shoot with his paws.

Now that I think of it, I would like to see a military-themed role-play campaign where the PC's are essentially Sonic OC's in a military scenario reminiscent of the late 20th Century conflicts, such as the Vietnam War, or alternately a T2K-esque World War III scenario pitting NATO against the Soviet Union that does not go nuclear and remains conventional.
It'd be the combined Id of DeviantArt and Soldier of Fortune Magazine made manifest.
Sort of like Call of Duty meets Sonic fanfiction, and yes it would be a not-so-serious and somewhat tongue-in-cheek game of sorts.

I am not a "Furry" either just to clarify I just like some of the books & art; but that said I've seen some cool art that inspired the idea. Antarctic Press's Ben Dunn put out a cool Furry sci-fi/military book. I am just a comic geek, I love most of it, from super heroes to manga to independent stuff like Wet Moon, Artesia & Poison Elves; plus adult stuff like Faust, EO & Omaha Cat Dancer. But the above are some of the non-adult kind of pics that inspired this idea - they just look cool. It be interesting on figuring out how to role play such characters in such a game. Note: you have to right-click pic icon & select open new tab to view properly - at least I do.

I did play in one game of Twilight 2000 while I was on a vacation trip. It was fun and I would play again. That's all I remember because I was around 15 at the time so over 30 years ago.
