A 40-ton fuel tank provides fuel for the power plant and provides sufficient fuel for one jump-2. Adjacent to its bridge is a computer Model/1. There are four staterooms and no low berths. One double turret with its fire control is installed on the ship's hardpoint, but no weaponry is mounted. One air/raft is carried in a specially fitted hangar within the ship. We have the broad goal of seeking out resources and advantages. Our current goal is seeking some rare minerals in the equatorial jungle of Miscatoon. I have a map of questionable reliability but better than nothing (one hopes). After filling our tanks we are bound for an area at about 1 degree north, 212 degrees east. Likely the northwest end of the hex that location describes.

The information that I have indicates that dysprosium is found in many minerals, including xenotime, fergusonite, gadolinite, euxenite, polycrase, blomstrandine, monazite and bastnäsite; primarily with yttrium and often with erbium and holmium or other rare earth elements. Dysprosium is obtained primarily from monazite sand, a mixture of various phosphates. The ship library has more information.
THE SCENERY
You fly over mile after mile after mile of tropical mountainous jungle. Of course there are many small animal life form readings, and a lot of rivers and streams. You are looking for a transition of volcanic to igneous rock, and finally your sensors find the dividing line. The bastnasite ore that contains the dysprosium was found in a cavern system at the base of some granite cliffs, and you identify a likely range of cliffs, maybe 1o miles long. You will have to land the ship and scout along the base of the cliffs to find the actual cave entrance. The only safe landing place looks to be in a river, about 1 mile from the cliffs.

THE SURVEY
After a 20-minute survey, your plotting program produces a surveying map with the caves marked on it. The waterfall is the blue line near cave marked 3. You should be able to land your scout ship in the pool at the foot of the falls with no issues

You decided to explore Cave 4. Due to navigational challenges, you walked, rather than damage the air/raft
The party was attacked by a 25-kg reptilian pouncer, and Marci was injured.
Three specimens were terminated by the party, and Marci revived due to Col Westcoat's medical care
