The Bat Cave is my mega-dungeon, to be used as the climax of my Stolen World. I am also doing fast forward explorations as the party time travels to it. Yes there are a lot of bats and yes one of the primary villains is represented by the Joker.

The Bat Cave is mostly the work of the Dreaming Dragon and Sinister, Lord of Left socks. These two powerful entities are sort of at war, although the Dragon is far more powerful.
This is my initial concept, I do not know for sure how this will end up as it's pretty an ambitious project especially one of the sections. The over all concept of the dungeon that the different sections each are partially in another dimension. The main effect of this is that I will be using a different set of RPG rules in each one.
The cave is built on a cavern system that 3 empires have used over the years, as modified by Sinister and the dragon
The central section was originally used by a powerful goblin empire, tribes of goblins have been trying to take it back for thousand of years, It was used as a "life boat" by two later empires.More to come.

This is going to be used as the above ground castle, The home of the Dreaming Dragon(and yes I know this concept is from Rune Quest) It can be used by the PCs to get around the whole dungeon. Here at Dragonsfoot www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=65381 The post discuses the use of the classic arcade game " Dragon's Lair" as a playable dungeon but it approaches it like a normal D&D game. You cannot represent DL with " Ok Bob, it's your turn what are you doing?" So I've got a germ of an idea. The castle itself is a dream construct of the way-too-powerful-to fight Dragon. From a distance the castle is changing, growing towers, walls falling , getting bigger and smaller in rapid succession. The castle "eats" interesting things that the players will need to extract. It is also Multidimensional and planer and moves around. The way I am planning on running it is that individual rounds are broken into 3 parts and only one player gets an action to interact with the "trap". a second player will be able to aid the "phasing" player in what ever action he takes. casting spells will be broken up over the 3 partial rounds(depending on L of spell). The phasing player will in essence be the party leader for the 3 partial rounds. The phasing player "job " will be rotated in some fashion(havent got this worked out yet). This is all run w/ the idea that you are trying to recreate the frantic pace of DL The growing and shrinking nature of the castle forces constant movement on the players A brief description of the situation will be provided with the idea of "looking around" will be an action that takes up a whole "partial" round. A few normal combats to be sprinkled in. Since a lot of work will go into an encounter that should only take IRL 2 maybe 3 min., the rooms and traps are reusable (justified by the "dream logic") This will obviously not work for a large group of players. Prob want to keep it to 3 or 4. This will require MASSIVE prep time for what will prob amount to a 1 hour crawl at best (depending on how many standard fights you work in) That's why REUSABILITY is key. To make the prep worth it , you can rerun it w/ the "dream logic" Not sure if I'm going to pull the trigger on this. But I really like the idea. Not promising a part two if I don't.

Ok I don't plan on the main Dungeon part of 8-10+ year plan for Sundered Worlds/Stolen World campaign until the end. But through time travel the players will visit briefly once in a while. As of this writing there are 5 or poss 6 different main sections each of which will use a different rule set and different character sheets except for option area 6 all of the side areas are actually in pocket dimensions attached to the Bat Cave
The whole point of it to stop the destruction of the universe in the Dungeon.
Phase 1 of the Campaign is set in the Sundered Worlds, as the universe collapses our hero's search for the dungeon and what does the Chinese Parade Dragon artifact have to do with it. This is using Pathfinder rules ,5th L Huge stone monoliths will be placed in the Stolen Wold , anchoring and stabilizing the fragments of the remains of the universe.
Phase 2 a is their stranding in The Stolen World and the ongoing hunt for the dungeon. From this point on the main rule set I will be using home brew( sometime around 4 - 6/17 is start)
Phase 3 is the exploration of the dungeon and the gradual revealing of the main villains and true motivations of various NPCs
THE BAT CAVE ITSELF
Main Center Section
The original construction is goblin and the the Kuthrii Empire's lifeboat against the end, this is by far the biggest section of the dungeon. Surrounding the main area are 4 smaller sections that each will use a diff rule set
Area 1 Sphinx This is a parody of a true 1974 old school dungeon, egyptian themed, the pc's have already spent 8 games exploring the future. The rules are heavily modified Swords and Wizardrys, they started at first and are now second
Area 2 The Baron this section is the home to a classic Dracula. The rules will will be using will be custom D&D with character classes such as farmer, maiden or prince, the pc's will be given character overlays of their true(IE Pathfinder) selves, they will be inhabiting the bodies of other peeps and their personalities will blurr, they will always be first L, eventually they will learn how to trade bodies. . This is the next area to be previewed in a flash forward and it will happen soon. slight poss will use 25 point GURPS char's. This area will contain a twon and teh Baron's Castle, poss this will be the very very end as they will have to face The Baron w 1st l chars
Area 3 The Tsan Chen These are extremely powerful sorcerers who have fled here from their extinct time ling(they are breifly mentioned in HPLs writings) They have contol of a gug(also HPL giant) city that is also here, rules will be pathfinder w original char sheets
Area 4 The Witch done the least work on this, rules will be D&D 1e with my original skill sheet that I just found(It is more like feats) from 1981.
Optional area 6 the Dragon This is detailed in the "Diff way to Dungeon Crawl" post, really trying to push myself to this but right now it's a maybe, either Pathfinder or more likely C&T would be used

I honestly want to know about this Lord of the Left Socks, as this would explain why any matches to any other socks in our dryer disappear.
