Shiyazthar whispers (not caring if the captain hears, but still very quietly) "That did occur to me, but Kativa's omen would indicate that the bandits are his enemies." Sora nods, but adds: "That may not clear him. Perhaps he has been feeding information to the bandits in order to make their strikes predictable. Once he is sure that the bandits trust his information, the last 'leak' sets them up for an ambush. And suddenly he's the hero of the hour." "Never hurts to be careful." (As Shiyazthar looks around, he adds:) "Pete says to play the cards you're dealt, but watch the dealer's hands."

"Sound advice."
[OOC: I'm fine with moving on to dealing with said bandits and/or getting stabbed in the back.]

(Kativa steps next to Shiyazthar.) "You trap beasts, Shiya. Can bandits be trapped in such manner, without harm?"

(Kativa steps next to Shiyazthar.) "You trap beasts, Shiya. Can bandits be trapped in such manner, without harm?" Sora interjects, "This sounds like a large and capable gang. Attempting to capture them uninjured when they have no need to so restrain themselves will likely get more than a few on our side dead. I mislike such an outcome, particularly when all of them - alive, dead and in-between - will most likely end up hanging in gibbets at intersections along this very road."

Shiyazthar: "I should like to examine the spoor of these bandits. Friend - Sora, is it not? Would you advise we wait for the captain or seek the place of the recent raid? And 'vita - we shall see what we shall see. I do trust your intuitive prompt that we 'trick' them."

And 'vita - we shall see what we shall see. I do trust your intuitive prompt that we 'trick' them." After a brief pause for thought, Sora replies, "Examining the scene of the most recent raid is a good idea. New eyes might find something previously missed, since those previously looking will have already 'known' what they were going to find."

"Then let us - you, me - be away as soon as we learn where the most recent raid occurred. 'tia, when we can go, will you excuse us to the captain?
"Now - does any soul here know where that raid is placed?"

"Now - does any soul here know where that raid is placed?" Sora shrugs and opines: "I'm sure somebody does. I suggest that we 'encourage' whoever it is to come along and show us, rather than just provide directions. That way, we have a better chance of not walking into an ambush."[OOC: Sora assumes that Josiah will be accompanying him.]

[out of character metagame chatter]
Don't you dare start feeling guilty! This is a game. What's taking your time and energy is real life. Real people take priority over faux people, even when our faux people seem to have a life of their own. (Such as Shiyazthar suddenly noticing the disappearance of all the NPCs.)
You've built and rebuilt a fictional world which won't quit. Quitting is not in your nature. We promise to not break it while you rebuild your real world.
Probably.

While the group waits for a local guide to be summoned to lead them to the site of the last bandit attack, Sora pulls out his portable chess set then spreads the "board" out on a convenient stretch of dry ground. Whistling tunelessly through his teeth, he sets up the game that he and Josiah had paused back in that tavern and the two quietly resume playing. If the wait proves to be long enough, the winner (likely but not for certain Sora) will gladly take on challengers.

((Out of Character)) How would anyone and everyone feel about putting a hold on this adventure until our GM (Mr Admin) and Mrs Admin get through their current bout(s) of chemotherapy/radiation/white man magic so that (a) they might know if he'll have enough strength to continue this and/or (b) they decide they might want to spend all their time together? [1st Runner-Up in the longest run-on sentence for 2018]

[1st Runner-Up in the longest run-on sentence for 2018] I'm cool with that, honestly, I haven't got very invested with this game, I've debated dropping out. Maybe when the dust has settled, this game will take off and I can get engaged. Frank

Fine with me . . . although I'm equally fine with noodling around in-character, as our characters wait upon that guide to show up. In pbp, it can easily require several weeks to play through twenty in-game minutes of casual conversation. [1st Runner-Up in the longest run-on sentence for 2018] Which begs the question: who won?

Josiah tips over his king and stands up from the board. Sora looks around at the observing crowd and asks, "Any takers for a game?"

Mine apologies. This should have been an OOC post, messed up by vertigo bad judgment, and a twisted sense of humor that interferes with me ever growing up.
