Emma looks over at the partners and says, "I'm interested if you are. Though Tab here has told me horror stories about the life support systems on those Suleimans - guess I'll have to keep us well supplied!"

Emma . . . says, " . . . the life support systems on those Suleimans - guess I'll have to keep us well supplied!" Suzuki smiles and says to Emma, "Welcome aboard!"Then with a grimace of distaste he adds, "Yeah. The original model had an LS system that was supposed to be cutting edge . . . for the time. Unfortunately, someone somewhere in the approval process must have been paid off, because the system wasn't nearly as capable as advertised, especially regarding air filtration. 'Eau de sweatsock' is how the problem is usually described. And I'm afraid The One That Got Away is one of those models."Suzuki continues with a somewhat forced smile: "On the up side, the problem has a relatively simple fix. We just need to strip out all the original gaskets and seals - the formulation of which is delicious to a particular stubborn fungi - then replace them with modern versions. A few hundred manhours should see it done."

"We're all going to be putting in the time on this and we want to be as thorough as possible. Isn't there something that we can fumigate the ship with to get into every area?"

"We're all going to be putting in the time on this and we want to be as thorough as possible. Isn't there something that we can fumigate the ship with to get into every area?" Suzuki mournfully shakes his head: "It's been tried, for decades. A good treatment - plus the physical removal - can hold for weeks, sometimes months, occasionally as long as a year. But the problem almost always eventually recurs. On the upside, once the original gaskets and seals are gone, it's never as bad as originally."Suzuki takes a bit of his chili, then shrugs and around the bite mutters indistinctly, "Yuh gut usest to it."

Tab shakes his head and says, "Ya only get used to it cuz ya hafta. I never wanna get useta it again."
Emma just looks at Suzuki. "Eating with your mouth full? Really?" She then goes into looking for parts to do the replacement with.
OOC: How should we handle tasks in this?

The table conversation hits a quiet moment, as everyone chews, slurps and otherwise ingests the various edibles and potables.
Apparently feeling the pressure of the silence, Danny cheerfully asks: "So . . . is there anything else engineering wise that our fearless leaders have planned?

Swallowing hurriedly, Suzuki offers: "Well, I was thinking that we might look into acquiring some locally-made heavy machine guns, then mount these either on the air/raft or The One's underbelly. Or possibly both, if we can acquire enough."

A few rumors:
Kauran has an Area-51 and there is supposedly some kind of ancient orbital station the Marines are charged with preventing from awakening.
Gorbad has an asteroid mining concern run by a wage-slave corporation with horrid conditions for the miners.
The company in charge of the fuel concession at Arthiop charges double and there has been trouble with sabotage.
A courier ship just came in yesterday with news that Tegel Starport is under threat, Ryefield, capital of the Roglaroon Federation and the city surrounding Tegel Starport was captured by forces from Modron.
While you are consuming your food and beverages, a young lady of obvious noble stature approaches your table. She looks around furtively, puts a napkin with a crude map drawn on it onto the table, and says "I can pay you Cr 300,000 if you can rescue my brother from this manor and get us both off planet."

Suzuki is literally stunned speechless for a moment . . . Wow! This one definitely grew up in a rarified environment, if she just walks up to a group of total strangers in a tavern and asks for help. I suppose we can take it for granted that she's been followed by family security on this rare jaunt out into Reality.. . . then with a significant look at Tab and Emma waves his arm at Princess I Wanna Die and says, "With job offers like this, trouble won't need an invitation, so it's best to have the party already set up and ready to rock and roll, don't you think?"

Suzuki nods and looks over at rather miffed-looking Princess (one guesses she's not very used to being talked about as if she isn't present) and asks, "DO you have any useful contacts in the starship or military supply industries?"

The young lady looks around furtively, puts a napkin with a crude map drawn on it onto the table, and says "I can pay you Cr 300,000 if you can rescue my brother and get us both off planet."
Before you can react, three men burst into the tavern, two in police uniforms and approach the young lady. The third man says "Pardon us, the young lady has escaped from the Bledsoe" and he pulls out a hypo syringe.
The young lady screams "They're going to murder me!"

Suzuki considers the evidence . . .
A woman who ignores questions and social context while presenting a napkin with a crude map, while claiming control of a significant fortune and that the local police are in league with someone who's planning to murder her.
Hmmmm . . .
Either the guy with the hypo is telling the truth and Princess I Wanna Die is an escaped mental patient . . .
OR
She really is Somebody Important Locally . . . but Somebody Else Even MORE Important Locally has everything wired up pretty solidly against her.
Either way, outsiders like us are looking at taking on a LOT of trouble for what may very well be no gain at all.
But then again, will I be able to sleep tonight without at least trying?
. . . then stands up from his seat, tips his IISS cap (thus bringing attention to it's Imperial insignia) and asks in a voice pitched to carry over Princess I Wanna Die's screams: "Sir Adam Suzuki, at your service. Mind if I see some ID, gentlemen? And just what is this 'Bledsoe,' anyway?"

Tab stands up as well, to backstop Suzuki. He prepares to run after them, just in case.
Emma just face-palms and says, just loud enough for the two to hear, "Leave it alone, you're gonna get us in trouble!"

I was waiting to see if you wanted to change any of the reactions before the police burst in? If not, we'll play it from there with Suzuki asking for ID.

The cops flash ID that looks right. The doctor flashes ID from the Bledsoe. He says "Sorry for the disturbance, this young lady is a guest at the Bledsoe Psychiatric Hospital. I'm affraid she is confused and distraught. If you'll step aside, I'll use this hypo to calm her down and we can escort her back."

As the three men approach the group's table, Danny rises from her seat and attempts to calm the hysterical local woman. The spectacle of the tiny redheaded Traveller comforting the towering blonde local is visually as well as audibly striking. It quickly attracts the attention of [and likely sparks fantasies in the minds of] most of the male patrons of the tavern's common room. The cops flash ID that looks right. If you'll step aside, I'll use this hypo to calm her down and we can escort her back." Suzuk - having stepped in between the three new arrivals and the pair of women - holds out his hand and asks in a calm voice: "Those IDs went by a bit fast, there. Mind if I see them again?"

[OOC: How are we going to handle Danny's attempt to calm Princess IWD? In Savage Worlds, I would run this as a Test of Wills or Social Conflict taking half a minute or so game time. But CT doesn't have a mechanic for this or at least I can't recall one. Maybe run it like a Bribery attempt?]

I would note that in this case, the distraught woman is seeking help and you seem to be offering it, or at least willing to consider offering it, that of course plays well in your favor of calming her.
I'll give a chance for Jame to chime in with any action also before resolving]

Emma looks at the ids closer and says they look real to her, however, she will point out that the Drunken Goose is inside the starport extrality zone, so the cops don't actually have authority here, further, while the Drunken Goose is not on the Scout Base premises, the presence of the Scout Base means the bar tender to likely side with Scouts in a local vs. Imperial jurisdiction dispute and the Scout authority will likely back him up.

Nodding in agreement with Emma's point about jurisdiction . . .
[OOC: I was previously assuming that we were in the startown, rather than on the starport grounds proper . . . since these cops were *not* accompanied by a member of Starport Security (as I assume they would have been while visiting in uniform).]
. . . Suzuki watches carefully to see what the cops and Hypo Guy are going to do, now that their bluff has been at least partially called.
