The artifact called "The Rune Spear of the Jagged Temples", what is it, where did it come from, what does it do, what does it look like, and any other details you can think of.

One option is to construct it of Star Metal that soaks up magic. Try running with that.

No one knows how old this artifact is, and rarely is it recognized by its "current" owner. In appearance, nothing more than a sharp stick, fire hardened at its point. Childish scrawls are scratched all along its length and there is no beauty of craftsmanship to it.
But when thrown in fear or anger, it always does critical impaling damage to the enemy attacked, embedding itself from left to right (always from left to right) through the hated one's head. The strength and vitality - aye, even the spirit and power of the man or woman brain-impaled then flows into the Spear Holder..for thus is the accursed wielder known for the lifetime of one generation.
Sages speculate that the spear could conceivably be wielded as defense from an animal or even to hunt for meat. Historians note, in caution, that the spear has always claimed only human life.
In anger or fear. Only in anger and fear.
