Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
Today we go talk to her oncologist and find out what the options are. I am hoping they have some good news with treatment options now that they have tested and analysed the cancer.

The oncologist is prescribing a hormone blocker that should slow the growth of the cancer down a lot and she thinks Janet will tolerate the medicine well. It is a slow growing cancer so who knows how long she has had it and so they are going to go with this as it should work well for this cancer which did not respond to chemo, There is a lot of cancer throughout the whole abdominal cavity and the strategy is to make it grow as slow as possible and maintain quality of life.

I don't know if you and she celebrate Christmas, but I do and will be praying at services and at home for you two.

Hi all, I was not online much in December and even less in January. My wife is on a new drug that is supposed to slow the growth of the cancer and in about a month and a half they will do a new Cat Scan to see if it seems to be working, because of the kidney failure they cannot do the high contrast test, so the results of the test they can do are not as detailed as they like. The oncologist is talking only about maintaining quality of life for as long as possible.
The doctors also think that my prostate cancer is coming back and I am three weeks plus into trying to get an out of network referral through my Obamacare plan. The in network hospital does not do the test my cancer doctor wants me to have, but the out of network hospital does. They want to see exactly what is going on and to make sure it has not spread. They tell me that I am going to need 6-8 weeks of daily radiation treatment regardless of the results, but they need to know where to focus the dose and whether or not additional treatments are needed besides the radiation.
Also my wife's last remaining aunt passed away just recently and we went to the funeral, which was tough for her and tough for her family too knowing what her diagnosis is.
In addition, a good friend of ours who is only a few years older than we are went from appearing to be completely healthy to be diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and entering hospice in a two week period.
So 2017 was a bad year and so far 2018 is not looking like any improvement.

To be clear - given the new rules - positive spiritual encouragement is most welcome in this thread.

My wife and I have had the flu the past few days and she has had a really tough time with it. We have both had the flu shot back in the early fall and I think that helped both of us some. We were a bit worried since young healthy people in their 20's and 30's have died this year from what is going around.

I'm hoping, but we are both really wiped out today. I just jumped on to check on things and then I 'm going back to bed for a couple of hours and then going to pick her up from dialysis. Then fix her some lunch and both going back to bed.

About 2:00AM I called the squad and they took my wife to the hospital. She is there now (I am popping home to take care of things, but our excellent young neighbors next door are helping out with our dog - he mows our lawn every time he mows his own) and if all goes well she will get out on Monday. They have ruled out the flu and pneumonia but are treating her with antibiotics and rest. She is walking on her own but tires out very quickly. I will not be on again for at least a few days, @piper and mormonyoyoman are in charge and have full authority to do anything that needs to be done.

Just to let you all know that my wife is doing better and should be moving to a rehab center on Weds afternoon. I will still not be online much for a while but things are looking up. Thank you all for all of the encouragement.
