My wife went into the hospital this morning to get a port put in for the Home Dialysis, something she was really looking forward too as it would allow a lot more freedom and many other things. They opened her up and then told us that they could not put the port in because she was "full of cancer in her abdominal cavity". We are both in shock as you can imagine.
The doctor who is not an oncologist was assuring me this is treatable, whatever, he means by treatable. She is supposed to see him in a week and at the point he will have lined up an oncologist for her. We are home now but I will not be on line much.

So sorry to hear this.
I just got back this morning from an ultra-sound on my heart--checking the valves--so, its been that kind of a day.
All our prayers to your wife and you all.

Thank you all for the support!
We went back to the doctor yesterday morning and the diagnosis is ovarian cancer. The doctor said there is no real way to screen for it and no way to tell if she has had it for a month or two years. He said the good news is that it is treatable and that if my wife had not opted for the surgery for the home dialysis (which is now off the table) it would not have been found.
My wife had an aunt on her fathers side that died of it a week after she doubled over in pain, the first symptom she had.
We went from that appointment to get a Cat-scan and those results should be back by Friday and she is being referred to a specialty oncologist. She will likely be going on Chemo and there may also be surgery down the road.

Sorry to hear that you have gotten bad news with your wife having cancer, but at least it is one of the ones that can be treated. Will pray for a complete recovery! Peace!

It's very treatable. My mom survived and thrived; my little brothers and I are convinced she's gonna outlive us all because she walks everywhere All The Time. Have faith and make sure that she knows you believe in her.

She will likely be going on Chemo and there may also be surgery down the road. Catching even really bad cancer very early is a big deal: one of my aunts lived for 10+ years after a bone cancer diagnosis, because it was found so early. Best of luck to you and your wife, Dave. Allan.

I am hoping that it is early enough.
