Hi All, Just wanted to check in. I'm still lurking and will jump in whenever the crew gets back to the ship. :-) If we make it back to the ship. I think Blackjack is oblivious right now and his tail is going to get caught in the ringer.

No worries, happy to be the cavalry when called upon. :-) Well Chuck, it seems we are the only ones here, so I am going to drop out and it has been good playing with you, I am sorry the game has to end. Maybe someone else will start a Traveller game. I am not going to sign up for four games again it is too much. I will do one maybe two total if something opens up.

Good luck and best wishes all around right back at you! Ah, darn! And I just missed her! (I had thought that everything was already dead and had stopped checking this site regularly). Oh, well. Such is the way PbP tends to go.

Without a GM not much we could do. {shrug} Okay. But maybe we could have just kept going sorta the way we were doing, except with each of us also playing the NPCs as well as our characters. In other words, rather than playing a game, we could pretend that we were cooperatively writing a novel?

Yup, I'm bummed that Gil never got to follow through with Peng as a potential business partner or the inevitable grilling/berating/chastisement that I thought he would get from Raven... :-( [OK, so maybe Gil wasn't looking forward to it, but I was!]

Maybe someone could contact erisred to get his notes & see if someone would be willing to take over running this PbP if he is unwilling or unable.

I sent him a message to see if he would be willing to resume the game or if not, if he had notes that could be passed onto someone willing to run it in his stead.Only time will tell if he will reply or not. If he doesn't want to run & gives the staff any notes for the campaign, would anyone be willing to run it (outside the players that is)? I won't as I still have to run my initial DD game & not really interested in running Traveller.

I've never played Traveller so I would not have a feel for running it. Classic Traveller (which is what I think erisred was striving for) is basically Star Wars, but without FTL communications and with the PCs usually working for various iterations of Jabba The Hutt.

It has an analog of "The Force"?

It has an analog of "The Force"? It has psionics so a game master could recreate force powers with those. Especially in 1977 when SW came out, there really wasn't much on film to tell us what the The Force was. A bit of precog, a touch of "The Voice" (from Dune), and a laser sword.

Most Traveller campaigns I've been in and/or run pretty well stick to Firefly-like space opera and forego Psionics. On the other hand, there was that one crossover campaign where the player characters were dimension hopping and had to deal with magic, psionics, and mutant powers... ;-)

The Empire of the Traveller mileau (the "Third Grand Imperium of Stars," to give it's full title) leans more toward Grey than Black - at least as it was later developed - but there IS an adventure seed in one of the early rule sets in which the PCs are approached by a frantic young noblewoman with a tale of the Empire kidnapping her Senator father and imprisoning him on a station orbiting the planet . . .

Yeah, we had a sick GM who ran us through an encounter with the Cthulhu mythos. Urrgh, That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die, etc. Never saw Big C, but lots and lots of freaky minions...

Oh! And there was a contest in one of the early issues of the Journal of the Travellers Aid Society (the game's in-house-published magazine) to guess which characters were represented by the various pregenerated characters listed in the first edition of the rules set. Two of these turned out to be Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader . . . so, yeah, the intended links were fairly blatant.

Minions aren't too terribly dangerous in Cthulupunk . . . unless your GM happened to adhere to one of their freakier potential properties and let them take only ONE-TENTH rolled damage, since they were only partially present on the same plane of existence. Which is where one of these came in handy . . . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minigun

Yes, we quickly discovered that our weapons didn't do quite the damage we expected, but we found that chunking a bundle of fusion grenades did (if you pardon the unintentional pun) a pretty bang-up job on the little beasties (and the bigger ones too).

Looks like erisred is back. Erisred let us know if you'll be running this again & if so (as it looks from the recent post) ask the admin's to move the PbP campaign back into the active area.

erisred, I think @mightdarci dropped out due to lack of progress. You might want to drop her a note unless you are going to play Raven as an NPC. :-)

I am pretty sure raikenclw & Chuck are down with it, Mighty Darci would be the only potential question mark. If you need another player erisred I am game, just hit me up once you hear back from the others.
