I will also say this, while I am willing to be the captain, I also think that it will penalize the group in action to have a first time player "in charge". Sheer ignorance is a thing. If I were to run as the on board captain, I would want some OOC information thrown my way. Information that I would be clueless about as a first time player. The core crew does have some familiarity with Charlie and if it becomes obvious that that the issue needs to be revisited, it can be. He's also more than willing seek counsel from those more knowledgeable than himself. We'll also have time to get comfortable with one another as we settle in. Charlie will suggest keeping things as is captain-wise for now and seeing how things settle. The command structure will still need to be populated and he can't do it all. He won't vote unless the contenders are voting, but that seems unlikely in this sort of thing. |

You're going to be working in territory outside the Romanian Empire, attacking ship, bases, etc. To the folks in the Mantan Subsector you might easily be seen as "just as bad as those darn pirates!" |

Of course, what you're doing is, at best, privateering. You're going to be working in territory outside the Romanian Empire, attacking ship, bases, etc. To the folks in the Mantan Subsector you might easily be seen as "just as bad as those darn pirates!" Yeah, we are double dipping, pirates who work for the man.  |

Am I overthinking this?
How do we dispose of captured ships and property?
What do we do with prisoners? Do we have to take them back to a Romanian planet?
Are we operating under orders?
Whose?
We could be a privateer, an auxiliary naval vessel, a kind of sheriff's posse, a pirate, someone's intelligence asset.
Can we replenish from naval supply points?
If we're going to be a Q boat, we are going to have to look and act harmless. How do we hide our teeth?

I talked to Tophocles privately the other day. He is feeling disconnected with the game and is strongly considering dropping out. I tried to give him some ways to make his character more connected. More posts, more connected is a general rule, but not everyone feels they can do that. I suggested that he recognize one of the new people. Casca Vhar is a Navy Captain, a Lord, and very likely the subject of some vicious rumors concerning a certain Lady of influence in the Romanian Empire. Some of the new folks probably would recognize the name, maybe the actual person. He hasn't responded to my suggestions, though. If he doesn't say something soon, I might have to NPC his rejecting the offer.  We also haven't heard from piperfan (Aarav Gazi) in a long time. Sometime in June was his last post, I think before you landed for refueling. I'm afraid he's likely gone, too. |

If they don't commit, but later want to try, they can be dropped back into the group. We're not flying right off for sure so there is time if someone makes a later decision to stay. |

If any of us make minor mistakes, correcting them, in my mind, does not rise to the level of being called out. Not disruptive at all. There have been some huge walls of text in the new thread and it is easy to miss something. Personally I love huge walls of text, because I like as much info as possible, which is tougher to do in a pbp that it is face to face. Kudos to erisred in my book. I am really enjoying myself in this game, just the little bit I have been here. Part of that comes from every player in the game. A whole mix of personalities to meld into a team. A few know each other IRL if IIRC and many of us only know each other here on the forum. So don't sweat it, you are important to the game, every player is. |

He expressed interest, so it may just mean a little NPCing while he handles the important work. Shouldn't be hard. Just have him duck all the work assignments. |

Everybody has been having RL problems for 18 months now and everybody is both distracted and needs distracting. Right now, I'm suffering from an almost full body itchy rash. Ankles to thighs, wrists to shoulders and I'm starting to have itchy spots break out on my back now. <sigh> It started last week and has been getting worse, not better. I really don't want to go to a doctor/clinic because where I live is a real hot spot for Covid. Speaking of Covid it's over 40% positive rates on tests, and over 2,000 new cases this last week in Santa Rosa County here in Northwest Florida. That's over 2,000 new cases in a week out of a population of under 200,000! Oh, and fully vaccinated here is at 38%...almost 2/3's of the people here are playing Russian Roulette with their lives and the lives of everyone else, too. Oh, and I don't think I've told you that the State of Florida thinks I'm dead. Yep, the Retirement system sent condolences to me on my passing and cut off my pension last week! The Investment Plan I've got a lot of money in was informed by the FRS and now wants my Death Certificate so it can disburse my money to my beneficiaries! I sent them an email letting them know my Mother had died, they kept her alive in their system and killed me off! I guess James comes before Virginia, and whoever did this probably just clicked on the first Reddoch in their drop down box. <sigh> Yes, I've gotten the FRS (Florida Retirement System) to admit it is their mistake over the phone, but now I have to prove to them that I'm alive before they will reinstate my pension. Waiting for a form, who knows how I prove I'm actually alive? Maybe my rash is related to my pension problem, you think? I just needed to vent a little, sorry about that. |

Maybe a statement from a public official in a notarized statement that you appeared before them with proof of identity. That is why I am keeping my passport up to date, it gives me a second picture ID. Sorry to hear about the rash, that is an awful thing, does anything give you any relief? We used Aloe Vera, to help my wife's itch, because of the dialysis she itched a lot and that was the only thing that helped. |

Ted Bronson is crew. While primarily a specialist in mechanical systems, he can do other things in a pinch and will jump in and help anyplace it is needed.

I figured this would help Captain Charles Lin with his organizational chart. said heavy weapons covered everything from smaller weapons bigger than a rifle, up to vehicle mounted weapons, and also ship's guns. In a pinch, his heavy weapons-2 includes some gunnery skill. Charlie has navigation-4. Aarav and Ted have Navigation-1, but Ted is likely going to be working in engineering since we require 3 engineers. Casca has the skills to be the chief engineer. Aarav, I'm not sure if he sees himself as more ship's crew or a fighter. He might be the guy delivering the fighters to the fight. Not sure. |

Takheal can serve both aboard ship and on away teams. Tokheletoi can serve as the intelligence specialist, a cargo broker, and the quartermaster. Someone has to count (and pay for) the beans and bullets, after all |
