ReadmeThis thread will cover the aspects of character creation in the same order as the Holmes Basic text. 1. Ability ScoresThe referee rolled 12 sets of ability scores - you may choose a set of rolls for your character. Note that in Holmes the order of ability scores is strength, intelligence, wisdom, constitution, dexterity, charisma, coin. s | i | w | c | d | c | purse | 11 | 8 | 12 | 5 | 10 | 11 | 120 | 6 | 9 | 10 | 12 | 8 | 14 | 90 | 15 | 7 | 7 | 9 | 5 | 11 | 100 | 9 | 8 | 17 | 12 | 10 | 11 | 50 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 13 | 10 | 6 | 140 | 11 | 14 | 14 | 14 | 11 | 8 | 100 | 9 | 8 | 13 | 15 | 12 | 12 | 110 | 4 | 10 | 10 | 16 | 8 | 13 | 90 | 17 | 7 | 12 | 9 | 13 | 9 | 80 | 8 | 10 | 7 | 7 | 18 | 10 | 80 | 14 | 10 | 13 | 11 | 8 | 14 | 110 | 10 | 7 | 13 | 9 | 7 | 13 | 130 |
2. Equipment & Weapons 3. AlignmentYour character may be aligned with law, chaos, or selfish. 4. Languages (adjusted by DM fiat)
All characters speak low Atlantean (also known as barbarish or common). In addition, dwarfs speak the languages of dwarfs and goblins. The DM will roll one additional language for your character for every point of intelligence they possess over 10. Finishing Touches (by DM fiat)Pick a silly name for your character. If you are a fighting-man, choose barbarian (free helmet and you swear by crom) or Atlantean (free corinthian-style helmet) If you are a dwarf, pick a color for your cloak and beard.

OK: Lawful Cleric name is Gory Flory -The prices are fine -The quarter staff cannot be used with a shield. -The rules are somewhat ambiguous on a cleric's use of missile weapons, but I am ruling against their use by clerics.

Let's see if this will be acceptabubble -
Mensa barholmes, slightly autistic dwarf
17 7 12 9 13 9 80 S IQ WS CO DX CH GOLD
Shovel (he thinks it's a war shovel & sharpens it) 10g Leather armor, greasy 15g 12 iron spikes (throws them as stupid missiles) 1g Hand ax (often throws; he's in a rut) 3g Leather pants, when he remembers to wear 'em. 6g Garlic, 4 or 5 - 25g Gold left=20g Beard & hair: bright red Cloak: blue plaid gingham Helmet (one broken horn) picked off a stinky body
No memory of his childhood or family. Just woke up one day and walked until he found a place to eat. Lost temper when they tried to make him drink what he thinks was urine. ('twas beer) Hates gobbles (goblins), is teetotaler preferring "good rockwater" (cavern springs) and a great moss stew that he tried in Khazan.
Still searching for a temple or cleric of Gristlegristle, who he misheard is either king, god, or carver of dwarfs.
Whistles while he works - but very badly.
Wonders what happened to his friends (including a wolf) with whom he once fought gobbles and gargles.

If I had the time to commit, I would play just for the chance to play with mormonyoyoman. Thank you, I think. My characters may "be" lawful, and I may strive to become "lawful" good, but I tend more towards chaotic lawful, especially in play. Oh we could discourse forever on alignment theory - and have.

Yes. As helmets do nothing in Holmes, I prefer dwarfs to wear hooded cloaks for aesthetic and nostalgic reasons.

Yes. As helmets do nothing in Holmes, I prefer dwarfs to wear hooded cloaks for aesthetic and nostalgic reasons. No problem. Mensa doesn't wear his helmet. (It doesn't fit.) He throws it. If the boy ever finds a boomerang, he's gonna be a real danger... to foe and friend.

Where are Zuzu's rose petals? My name is not Zuzu it is ZU-ZU!! exactly like it is spelled and the spelling dictates the pronunciation. I use the rose petals for tea, quite good and nutritious and no you can't have any of them. (see why I wanted to be an elf)

xizallianI forgot to note that your character should have a "book of first level spells". The Enchiridon Primus contains the following spells: -Charm Person -Dancing Lights -Detect Magic -Enlargements -Hold Portal -Light -The Excellent Prismatic Spray* -Protection from Evil -Read Languages -Read Magic -Shield -Tenser's Floating Disk -Ventriloquism
Please note this on your character sheet. *identical to magic missile, except that the target must save vs death ray to avoid being hit
