Slumber Time
For a 1st level caster this spell effects up to 3d6 levels of 1 to 3rd level creatures, it does not effect creatures of greater than 3rd level. A +1 is added to the number each level, except where the raw power jumps and then the bonus resets to zero and starts over again. For a 5th level caster it affects up to 46d levels and up to 4th level creatures. For a 10th level caster it affects up to 5d6 levels and up to 5th level creatures. For 11th level casters it affects up to 6d6 levels and for 12th level casters it effects up to 8d6 levels. This spell puts a creature into a deep slumber from which they can only be awakened with difficulty, range is 30 inches and duration is 10 turns. Creatures up to 3rd level (3d+1) never get a saving throw. Creatures of 4th level and up get a saving throw with an adjustment of -2. Example: a saving throw of 16 would become an 18.

Boiling Blood: Target of the spell takes 1d6+1 of damage each round as their blood turns acidic. Save vs Poison negates the affect. Range: 3"
The first of a series of spells that would lead to a new 3rd level:
Magic User Level 3 -- Walking Bomb

Comments Interesting so basically a scalable version of the sleep spell. It seems pretty strong. What about allowing creatures of more than 4 HD just a flat save with no penalty? or leave sleep as is and make this one a 4th level spell Greater sleep?

Range: 3" The first of a series of spells that would lead to a new 3rd level: Magic User Level 3 -- Walking Bomb Just comparing this version to the other version you posted Been a while since I've posted but here's one that I stole borrowed from another game Magic User Level 1 Walking Bomb:You infuse the blood of an opponent within 3" with a corrosive poison. The round you cast it, walking bomb inflicts 1d6+1 damage (no save). After the initial effect the target must make a saving throw vs Death Ray/Poison each round or suffer 1d6+1 points each round a successful save ends the spell effect. Should the spell's damage reduce the targets HP to 0 they explode in a spray of blood, flesh and bones. Anyone within 1" of the exploding victim takes 2d6 points of damage no save. Range: 3'' Duration: special

I will leave it as is for now and consider adjustments after it play tested. But feel free to post your own versions of it. If I like yours better, I would use it.

Magic-User
1st Level Spell
Blue Finger of Flame
Saving throw for half damage
Blue Flame extends from the Magic-Users forefinger on their dominant hand for a distance of 2" in a column 5' in diameter. The spell does 1-4 +1 hit points per level of the Magic-User. Duration is three rounds, with a new saving throw needed each round. The Magic-User must maintain concentration for all three rounds. The magic-user may move the Blue Flame by moving their finger from side to side during the round and by moving their whole arm to reposition the flame each round.
