"Roger that. The name is Captain Lawrence Jamieson. My mate is Randy Bentwick. Let's meet at the Blue Parrot, fourth level of the small trader block, off docking bay 37. A word of advice - be very polite to the authorities, and leave any firearms in the ship. Wear a blade if you can, the longer the better - it gives status"

Rim Runner Clear."
Killing the comms channel, "Did everyone copy that?" Finally taking the last sip of her coffee.

"Good job!" Bronson says, "I'm glad they gave that advice on firearms and blade weapons. Let's be careful, though, we don't really know these folks, it could have been bad advice."

"Yes, I copy that," says San "good work."
"I don't have any reasons to doubt them yet. After we dock let's have Bronson, the baroness and I meet up where they suggest."
San checks his blade and makes sure it is strapped to his side.
(Oh, and I was imagining Halo pronounced "hay-low" as in what the little angels have above their heads. But maybe Hollow is a better way!)

You easily pick up the navigation signals from the starport, and six hours later the autopilot engages. A clipped voice comes from flight control before you are cleared for the bay. "Rim Runner, state your cargo, purpose and origin"

I used it to clear brush the last time it was used." OOC: Bronson Han is pronounced Bron-san Hahn, but he prefers to drop the "san" and just be addressed as Bron, or Bron Hahn

Approaching Atlantia. The starport (not yet visible at this distance) is at the peninsula tip where the white cloud is on the right

OOC: Do I answer the above question, or should the baroness who has been holding the com? Putting the empty coffee cup down, glancing at the captains, "Gentleman how do you want this played?"

Well, I have no idea where we jumped in from...Makofan? If I was on the radio I'd send accurate information, ie. "Rim Runner out of , transporting high quality blade weapons, a pair of ATV's and several tons of bulk aluminum. We are looking to do business on Atlantia."

At this point I see no reason to dissemble.

Punching back into the comms, "Flight Control Atlantia, Rim Runner out of Verbena, transporting high quality blade weapons, a pair of ATV's and several tons of bulk aluminum. We are looking to do business on Atlantia." Looking at the ship's officers, "Do you want me to stay on comms till we get in?"

Bronson says over the intercom, "BTW, jump drive shutdown went smoothly and the maneuver drive isn't showing that little fluctuation we saw earlier. I don't see any anomalies in any of the systems. So, were're looking good."

You set on auto-pilot and the ship slips by other traffic into the hangar reserved for merchant vessels like yourself. The air locks close, and your sensors indicate you are now inside a pressurized, breathable atmosphere. You settle onto the ground, where a tall human with cat-like ears and eyes stands with some sort of scanner. He is flanked by two slender women dressed in synthetic leather and wearing curved, light cutlasses.
Open the hatches and let them in, or go down and meet them?

Bronson quickly runs through the shutdown procedures and checks for the procedure to do a local hookup for power. Once that's finished, he'll drop by his quarters and hook his cutlass' scabbard to his belt. If San hasn't already gone to meet the locals, Bron will join him. If he has, he'll look forward to meeting the inspector once he/she is aboard.

I was thinking the three who are heading to meet up with the other merchants. Anyone else is welcome too, of course. But let's have at least two stay on board for security.

While the ship is docking, Shelby runs to her quarters and changes from ship jumpsuit to something a little more flashy but comfortable with her cutlass. Making herself available if the ship's officers want her present.
"Ready if you need me for a side party, sirs."

Buzz leans back in the pilot couch, puts his feet up on the console, scratches himself, and watches the "front door" on the video monitors. Now that the ship is dirt-side he'll have plenty of odd jobs to take care of (what was that fluctuation in the maneuver drive, anyway?) but for the moment, a little down-time.

San, Bron and Shelby descend the gangplank to meet the official. The two guards nod with approval upon seeing Captain Shelby decked out in naval dress and cutlass, and the customs agent smiles, showing rather large fangs. He inspects your documentation on your datapad, and accepts it at face value
"Welcome to Atlantia. Here is the link to our Starport information network. Please acquaint yourself with all laws and regulations of our planet. Docking fee is 100 Credits for 6 days. If you plan to remain longer than this, please fill fill out the appropriate extension forms and send them to the Starship Registry Bureau. Enjoy your stay". He hands back the datapad, and then they retreat out of the bay.
Roll above law level of 7 to avoid close inspection, DM +1 for wearing cutlasses and formal dress, rolls 9+1=10 success

"Hum, that was interesting." Bron says as the group departs, "I think we better pull up some info on laws, regs and customs from the local network, and that's a subject we should take up with the folks we're meeting for drinks, too."

"Agreed, it looks like one wrong step could get someone involved in a duel." Try linking into the net to find what data on the planet is available and directions to our bar.

"Agreed, it looks like one wrong step could get someone involved in a duel." "Good," answers deCloudeforte, "although I usually kill men and not pussycats. Does the ship library have more detailed info on planetary laws, or shall I locate a police kiosk?"

Han suggests that deCloudeforte take along a companion if he seeks out a kiosk. And for both to dress formally and obviously display their blade.
All said, we still need two to stay on board at all times.

The tech level of this place is about the same as current USA tech level, extrapolated maybe 50 years into the future - gravitics, fusion power, medical implants, interplanetary network connectivity.
The laws seem to be based around protocol and respect - for rank, for knowing your place. Duels are not encouraged, but done discreetly and properly are not discouraged either. The starport is much laxer than the rest of the planet, as it hosts so many outsiders

Bronson will get the ship hooked up to local utilities and make sure the 100cr docking fee is paid. Then he'll dress in his best Ship's Uniform, strap on his cutlass and seek out San.
"Blue Parrot fourth level off docking bay 37? Isn't that what that other ship's officer said?
You ready to go meet them?
What was their names again?"

darn...this is going to get complicated...I'm part of the crew but according to the rules of this planet my social class might just be a bit more important. Shelby stood for a moment and contemplated the problem.
"Captain, my social class might come in handy when dealing with the locals, just something to keep in mind. I haven't held my noble rank very long BUT I know enough to make use use of it if I have to."
Smiling, "My brag board here,". Pointing to her awards, ribbons and medals. "I earned them." Looking around, "I suggest we meet with the crew of that freighter and see what they can tell us about the surroundings."
