Please post here if you would like to play in our Classic Traveller game based in the Murkhill subsector, and also let me know if you have a copy of the rules, and if so, which version.
Thank you

Why don't you try generating some characters with pen-and-paper, then ask any questions you may have. Generating characters is a fun game in its own right

Man, makofan, what do you do but run games? I don't know traveller at all. But I know you. So I would sign up. But I think I would have to drop a PbP to do it. Should I stick with Pendragon or learn about traveller?

Very hard to say. I know you are struggling with Pendragon and its archaic rules of custom. Traveller is a bare-bones sci-fi game with almost infinite flexibility. Players play characters who have retired from some service, and don't want to live out the rest of their lives in humdrum mediocrity. They are ex-miltary, or ex-hustlers, looking for adventure, thrills, power and riches. Han Solo and Lando Calrissian are excellent Traveller characters. So is the Stainless Steel Rat, Hammer's Slammers, and the crew of the ship in Alien.
I would have no problem if you wanted to drop Pendragon. I know it is not everybody's cup of tea

Let me think about it.
I still have the goal of getting Caerdin to "religious."

Man, makofan , what do you do but run games? I'll give you a serious answer here. I have a full-time job as a project manager for a Microsoft company, and a part-time business hooking families and small businesses up with affordable legal services. I love running RPG games, and use my project management skills and personal development I get with my business to be able to deliver reasonable quality games on a consistent basis despite my lack of free hours. I have about 35 games I want to run! I usually max out at about 10; this game will put me at 9 concurrent games

I would like to help you push your personal envelope, Makofan. I'd love to play in the Traveller game; I've got all the editions that matter

I'd like to play, also (as I've said elsewhere).
I have the '77, '81, Traveller Book and Starter Traveller rules, so I should be okay.

This is awesome. We'll go with the honor system - roll up a bunch of characters and post two that you like. Then we can figure out a party makeup

We're all mature gamers here. If you bring CCCCCF Pilot-5 I'll just shrug; it's your conscience

Assuming I haven't missed the boat, definitely interested.
I have the Classic Traveller CD-ROM (so 1977, 1981, The Traveller Book, and Starter Traveller and all the supplements) plus Mongoose Traveller 1st ed.
Have we decided what kind of group we're aiming for?
Going to read up the other threads.

Hi Frank
I want people to post two different characters, so we have a choice when we try to make up a group. That being said, with you we have five people, and I expect a few more, so we might make up two groups. Perhaps we have a Scout group starting on Wayaway and a combat/merc type group on Altair, for example

I have never really played in a play/post game, but I'm sorely tempted to play a Mángdiǎn and or a Droyne Sport ... perhaps a Chirper ... hmmmm ...

Two (one) of the very iconic Aliens from the 3I setting. Chirpers are not quite as evolved Droyne (well, that isn't quite right, but basically Chirpers are Droyne). Personally, I'd prefer we start with human PCs, and see where the campaign takes us. Baring that, we should use the aliens introduced so far in the world write-ups. But all of that is my preferences... Frank

Thank you Makofan, I'd like to play in your Classic Traveller game. I have CT (77, 81, Starter, Traveller Book and FFE's BBB's), so I'm good with having the rules. Oh and I have all the later ones, too: MT, TNE, T4, T20, MongT, and T5 and steal from them all...but mostly *play/run* LBB CT. As for my resume, I've been playing and reffing Traveller since 1977...39 years and counting!...FTF and online (Fidonet, PBEM, and PBP). I prefer exploration and trading to combat heavy games, but I'm adaptable to merc and active service games. Do you have a place for me?

Okay ... scratch the Droyne idea ... Lets go with the Mángdiǎn idea ... They are floating around in this subsector and they are predominately human.
Lui Wu 958924 Age 26, 2 terms Ex-Scout, Mángdiǎn. Homeworld - Aquaria. Cr2,850 Pilot-1, Engineering-2 PSR-7, Telepathy-7.
Let me know if I can try this ...

Hi makofan, I'd enjoy playing some old school sci fi!
My only experience with sci-fi is 15mm wargaming, but I'll give Traveler a go.
